Jan Ors (Crew) and Rey (Crew), evil combo, or not possible?

By JediPartisan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So I was thinking of Rey and Jan Ors Crew cards both on the YT1300 with the Falcon title and PTL.

Rey says that you can assign a focus token, but it doesn't say it's a focus action.

That being said, couldn't you assign a focus token from Rey, use Jan to make it an evade, do a focus action, use Jan and make it an evade, PTL and then do an evade action.

You would then have THREE evade tokens and one evade die, making you untouchable.

Next round do a green, rinse and repeat, until Rey runs out of focus.

This would mean you could get a handful of rounds where you are the only one with a chance to damage your opponent.

Take that Palpmobile!

Or did I miss something?

Rey assigns a focus, Jan mentions assign or action to get an evade.

Works just fine. Problem is Jan isnt that great of a crew anyway.

Also Jan only happens once. Either your focus action or the focus from Rey would become an evade, not both. Evade action is separate.

Evade tokens cannot be stacked on the same attack. One evade token per defense. That was changed in the summer faq.

you missed something:

Rey crew occurs at the end phase (ie after all movement and comnat). Her ability isn't an action. So you would focus as an action, and then could assign it as per her crew card if you still had the focus left at the end of the round.

3 evade tokens makes ou by no means untouchable, and can already be done (well, kind of) with Jan/C3PO/ original Falcon title.

Correction, Rey Crew happens BOTH at the end phase and start of combat. Read her card.

At the start of the End Phase, you may assign 1 focus token from your ship to this card.

At the start of the Combat Phase, you may assign 1 focus token from this card to your ship.

Ive been using her to get a pseudo double action w/o stress. Shes basically a weaker moldy crow, being limited to 1 at a time. Also dodges Old Terroch if he has init (which is HILARIOUS) as he also removes assigned focus tokens at the start of the combat phase. Well, if he has init, he must do his ability first. Since he went first, Rey hasnt assigned the focus yet so nothing to remove. Unlike the Moldy Crow, which would instantly lose a massive stack of focus tokens.

Yep, I did miss the change to the rules. That's why I posted here. ;-)

Thanks for the feed back.

I'll keep trying... back to the drawing board.

Rey doesn't have an upper total limit. You cold bank a ton of focus early game and use it the rest of the game.

Same as Moldy Crow. Still, you can take only 1 per turn, which is not that good. Though, that is not that bad as well - I think that she is priced quite well for what she is offering.

Not what i meant.

She has an infinite stack on her card, but you are limited to 1 focus at a time going on or off the card. Think Gonk: he can stack a ton of shields, but you can only take 1 at a time.

Moldy Crow doesnt have that part, as that stack of 8 focus is literally your focus stack, while on Rey you only have access to 1 per turn, and if you doublefocused somehow you can only save one for later while the Moldy Crow just keeps it all.

Which, both being non-ship specific and 1pt less, is a fair trade. I love Rey crew.
