Europe loses a bunch of Open Series but gains a championship.

Maximum attendance at the event is the missing piece of information. It should smash the record biggest X-Wing event ever held unless they cap tickets.

Yavin last year was capped at 512 I think but ended up with about 414. I'd expect them to cap it at the same number due to the capacity of the venue and the logistical craziness of running a tourney any bigger.

I suspect that the cap is going to be a much lower than the Opens. Remember, this is the championship for all their games. So, much like with Gencon and Worlds, X-wing has to share space with Netrunner and AGOT.

There's plenty of room to expand into if they want to.

This was true at Yavin this year too - there were other big tourneys going on at the same time, as well as a con with 10k-odd attendees. Space isn't an issue per se - there's loads of rooms availabe, it's an issue in that you don't want to have to use more than one room, and 512 was the capacity of the room they had, I assume.

Like, if they set the cap at just 300 or so to incorporate other games then there's going to be riots.

There is also the issue of logistics. Running two 200+ person tournaments is a real logistics issue. I'm sure AGOT is going to add another significant amount.

its held at the same time, during the same event, and in the same capacity hall as Yavin last year, so i see no reason to imagine the cap will be anything other than 512 once again. the hall could fit that many and more.
