Drawn In Tips

By Eyfrosyne, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Friday we will play for the first tiem Drawn In. (we have all expansions, but it never happened to play this one).

Do you have any tips? Rebels are very smart and strong, (Verena, Loku, Gaarkhan, and Davith). Loku has his personal Reward, Verena Lady Luck, Davith his Lightsaber. Luckily only Verena has Cleave weapon.

It seems I have no chance with so many stormtroopers near Verena and Gaarkhan at start, they could destroy a group in first activation.

I play Subversive Tactics, with Surgical Strike, Savage Weaponry, Heavy pressure, and 5 xp to spend. (No Quarter maybe?)

I have "Bounty" reward card to play Trandoshian at 6 instead of 7.

Maybe putting Savage Weaponry to E-web, but it's still too far to shot at first round.

Do you have any tips?

Thank you!

I don't think the eweb will benefit from a pierce 1, it generally rolls a lot of damage already, but mine always get killed before the do get to attack. Personally I would put it on a probe droid, They often roll low damage, too many surges and not enough surge abilities to spend them on. So auto pierce, plus a surge for bleed would be a bonus on probe droids... Alternatively, if you have them, pop them on cheap hired guns. They're cheap and easily redeployed, almost guaranteed to at least get one attack each, and they roll green/yellow. And when they die, just bring them back again with savage weaponry.

Okay, Verena will have your Troopers at the start killed in a hurry. You can't bring Mercenaries. That eliminates Hired Guns and Trandos. You need to stall them. But i don't know if it's possible. Verena is ******* broken when she is rolling.

You will get 5 thread per round and later more. My advise would at least normal Royal Guards, 1 normal officer for your reserved group, maybe Elite Stormies and what you like to play at the last group. Try to spawn some expendable group or groups with your reserved group to use one of the abilities.

I lost that mission because Diala two-shotted the reserved group and then rolled multiple dogdes in row when i only have to wound her. The rest were done.

No Quarter is a good card. Heavy pressure and Executioner also combos very well. Paying 1 thread for +3 damage can really worth. To secure a stun with a RG on Verena after she activated. That she can't use her abilities to interrupt.

Executor costing 1 threat to add +3 damage to the attack pool doesn't help you if the defender rolls a dodge.

I was planning about Royal Guards, but they arrive only at the start of 3 Rounds, I don't know if it could be too late.

Royal guard + Savage weaponry + No quarter could Stun and Bleed a Hero, maybe 2.

The mission relies on the Rebels having to travel a lot of distance rather than giving you good initial threat/setup. So normally I'd advise you to back your initial forces off (officer order e-web back) and gather until you have enough to wound out a hero in one round and then put the pressure on them. However that group doesn't have a good way of dealing with wounds/strain so just blindly hurling as many storm troopers at them each round will probably be enough to win it for you.

E-Web has a minimum range of 5 so you have a good chance of hitting a Rebel with it even at range 8, although Davith's hidden/force illusion could stop you.

RG rarely pay for themselves, they really need to get at least 1 if not 2 stuns off.

Only two of them are rolling a white die, i think. 1 threat can make sure that you do damage against a black die defender. The mission before the last mission my rebel players evaded like hell. Only reasonable option against that is the Inquisitor and the elite ISB's. Or the HK assassins.

And Weequay Pirates, as soon as you get them. (I'm already using them in the Play by Forum campaigns.)

(Combined with the Hired Help agenda card they are quite nice. :D )

Yeah, i have seen that. Quite nice. Makes that agenda card more valuable.
