How is collectability treating you?

I'm 5 starters and 64 boosters in, and I'm more irked that I have 6 Ackbars and yet only one endless ranks card. I thought endless ranks was an uncommon?

Don’t forget that the uncommons are only fractionally less rare than actual rares due to only slightly more uncommons in the set and the pack distribution of 1 rare and 1 uncommon.

Also having 6 Akbar's isn't so bad, at least they aren't BB8's or Rey's Staff :)

I managed Darth and Luke, add a starter for KLR and I have three generations of the Skywalker family tree. I also have, the women of the family in that I have Padme and Leia. So perhaps just Han to go for the complete tree.

14 boosters: Legendary Jabba and Falcon. Several rare characters, good mix of hero/villain but oddly enough all my dice where Red/yellow. Not a single blue die!

Interesting! I got quite a high % of yellow myself.

I imagine this game will be pretty frustrating to collect and open boosters - unless you buy/open at least 3+ boxes.

Sure a playset is only 2 and a deck is only 30 cards,

But you've got 40% of the set rare or legendary. You've got as many uncommons as rares in the set and only 1 per booster, so uncommons are basically almost as infrequent as a rare itself.

Then you've got the fact that you need characters to even make a new deck anyhow. And you've got essentially 6 factions in the hero/villain split of R/Y/B.

You could very easily open quite a few boosters and get tons of decent cards but have no ability to make a new deck, by having cards/characters that mismatch.

this typically is a collectors issue really. if you need Evader what does the triple grievous you have mean to you. As a collector I am screaming Yes Yes Yes. but as a player I would trade them away easily because I want Evader. And I also love to trade!

Also people keep saying "playsets are 2 and decks are 30 cards, so you'll need half as much as most other CCGs" - which completely ignores the fact that boosters come with one third of the cards compared to say, an MTG booster, for the same price.

Jon has a point tough, espcially since the uncommons are just rares-without-dice.

I'm finding this hero/villain on the non-character cards more restrictive than I first tought. Getting all the cards/dice to build the deck you want could get tough, but that's the case for most collectable games right?

Plastic is a lot more expensive then paper. and then the awakenings set is what 180 cards. I believe a major release for MTG is bigger (although I do not know that for sure, I have not played that in over 20 years) Also what is the release cycle for MTG

Origins alone was over 250 cards.

so yes you get less cards but also less cards to collect. And then this rational approach is lost because games are by definition a pastime building on feelings right?

Then the best reason to just do this or not to do this is your budget and the fun you have with it. I have invested in 2 starters and a box. I will not put in more money resources. I will trade for characters and other stuff. I have made a solumn vow not to collect! I have what I have it will not easily be discarded but I will not buy singles that are way overpriced. or get a couple more boosters for just the chance of Luke to make him elite.

I know that as a collector you will have a bit more of an issue on not doing that.

Of course it's anecdotal but here is an observation on the 7 boosters I have purchased, that's 35 cards.

I got 16 heroes cards only, 11 vilains only and 8 neutral. The color split was 10 blue, 9 yellow, 14 red, 2 battlefields.

I got 3 heroes character, no villains.

So the interesting part is to know how much card can be used in the starter decks without bringing new characters.

For Kylo Ren, we can use blue and red cards (villains and neutrals).

For Rey, we can use blue and yellow cards (heroes and neutrals).

The result is that I have 11 cards that I can use for Kylo Ren and 11 cards for Rey + the 2 battlefields.

So I have to say that after buying 7 boosters, I can run two complete decks of 30 cards which would feel differently than the base starters.

Legendaries for 3 boxes:

1st: Vader, Luke, Han, Commanding P., Phasma, Thermal D.

2nd: Luke's Lightsaber, Jabba, Crime Lord, Black One, Commanding P., Thermal D.

3rd: Millennium Falcon, Poe, Han, One with the Force, Jabba, Thermal D.

(3 Thermal D's, pretty good spread over all, still looking for that 2nd Vader and Luke)

Update: I have now opened thirteen individual boosters, still only got the one Legendary, and have received Rey's Staff three times. I've been trying to avoid buying a box as supply in my town is extremely limited, but if today's booster run yields me another darn Staff I'm just buying a box.

My first booster, pulled Vader. (got a booster box plus one booster pack)Can't open my booster box until tomorrow after work so hard to wait. But got my first game in with starters, not using proxies, the dice feel so excellent in my hands, pumped for tomorrow!

I bought 24 boosters and only got two legendaries. Luke and Kylo's Lightsabers. That was a bit of a shock as I expacted to pull around four. However, I did very well for characters, a complaint I've heard from a lot of people. I got a Padawan, 2 Dooku's, Nightsister, Amidala, Jango (one I really wanted), General Veers, FO Storm Trooper, Leia (another one I really wanted), and Rebel Trooper. Sadly, I got another stupid BB-8. I also got two Black Markets and 2 of one of the rifles. Apart from that I was pretty pleased. Still need a Kylo starter since they were sold out!

22 Boosters in and I have: 2 First Order Tiefighter, 2 BB8s, 2 Rey's Staff, 2 Jedi Robes.

Characters: 1 Padawan, 1 Leia, 1 General Grievous

Also got: 2 Jetpacks

Legends so far: 1 Black One, 1 Luke's Lightsaber

Also got the Promotion card along with the Comlink Dice.

Overall not too happy so far, would like to see more characters. However there are still 20 boosters to be opened in my box and this will include 5 legends so fingers crossed for double Vader.

Only bought 6 boosters yesterday (and 1 of each starter) since my FLGS only got in 1 booster box (and 3 of each starter). My first booster I opened was Kylos saber, second was vader, so I'm pretyt happy with it :P . Rares were force protection, general veers, nightsister and DL-44

Wife picked up three packs at a gaming store nearby, which generated the Falcon, Jabba, and Flamethrower. Two Legendarys from three packs is pretty good.

Got ahold of another half-dozen boosters today, pulled two Legendaries (Crime Lord and Thermal Detonator) which brings my total up to 3 out of 18 boosters. Nice to be average at last.

Both starters and 9 boosters so far. 1 legendary (thermal detonator) and zero characters. So I'm a bit pissed off that I've spent £52 and can't do any deck building.

both starters 37 boosters, 15 total characters, all battlefields, only missing 1 common and 10 uncommons, and of course missing 10 legendaries and some rares. I have elite Vader, and tons of deck building options. Just finnished updating my collection on Cardgamedb and now to build probably a raider/vader deck, and a hero deck!

Cracked a case last night. Excellent distribution, especially for uncommons. Out of 36 packs the highest quantity of uncommon cards I pulled for any given title was two copies. All the rest were different, which is far better than too many triples.

Rares were good too, I'm very pleased with buying a case.

I was worried about bad distribution, so I ordered a saga set .

Then I bought a box to get some more legendaries and some cards for trade. I was just too worried about how many I'd have to buy, plus I'm a little OCD about collecting cards whether I need them or not.

Hi,

So on thursday I got one of each starter set (kylo+Rey) and 14 Boosters....And man was I not lucky...

-1 Legendary (Commanding presence)

-and only 2 different characters (2 copies of Qui-Gon and Padme)

Today I returned to the store and got another 11 Boosters (shoulda just bought the box..I know right..) and got..

-1 Legendary (luke)

-and 4 more characters (Dooku, Leia and FO stormtrooper and a 3rd copy of Qui-Gon)

and so with about $125 invested so far.. Not a great showing. I was really kinda dissapointed.

Highlights of my collection include:

-Flamethrower

-Sith Holocron

-Immobilize x2

-Tie fighter x2

-Force training

-Graffi stick

-Cunning x2

-Infiltrate

-Speed Bike scout

-Holdout blaster

-Datapad

-Commlink

-Also got doubles BB-8 and Rey's staff

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I bought the Saga set to make sure I got every card without the anger of opening up boosters and getting cards I don't need anymore. I ordered mine on 11/19 and still don't have a shipping email, so hopefully I get them soon.

Also like you I bought some boosters to get extras to trade and to hold me over until I get the set. I bought 16 booster packs, the first pack I opened was Legendary Commanding Presence. I didn't get another Legendary after that. I was pretty disappointed but solidified my decision in ordering the Saga set because knowing my luck I would keep not getting Legendary cards in packs.
