Mindlink ships

By Rakaydos, in X-Wing

So everyone knows Mindlink Scyks, Mindlink Paob, and Mindlink Manaru. But what are the otehr options?

PS5

Khiraxz BSAces are at a nifty point cost where Mindlink and BMST is exactly 25 points. It's got almost the same greens as the M3A, and also has the 5k that is perfect for clearing out of a furball while keeping fire on the enemy.

Gand Findsmen are more awkward. at 25 points base, a mindlink brings them to 26, and the G1A's scumcrew, Illicit, and System slots beg for more points to be put into the ship. One possibility is Mindlink, FCS, Gunner, for a 33 point buzzsaw, but the G1A's defence is a bit light.

Kaato Leeachos is the cheapest mindlink ship, at 16 with link, with an upgrade for Slicers. If another ship has to spend focus in the movement phase (say, to Snap Shot), Kaato can hand out an additional focus to everyone by stealing a focus fro anearby ally, then using mindlink to replace the focus on anyone missing one. This also doubles Kaato up, giving him a mini glitterstim every time he uses his ability.

Guri is another old favorite. Like Palob, she can give everyone a focus token even is nobdy had an action. Unlike Palob, she's in a 3 red, 3 green with 5 health superfighter chassis. With Mindlink and Autothrusters she runs 33 points. With Virago and defensive tech, she can run closer to 40.

The protectorate fighter Ace fits mindlink and title in 25 points, covering a wide range of green 2 maneuvers to clear stress, while giving one fighter a turn a 2 talon roll with focus

The Mandalorian Mercenary is a heavyweight, coming in at 36 with mindlink at minimum. It's main offering is the rear arc, which complicates enemy maneuvering.
Consider Tailgunner, Rigged Cargo, Thread Tracers out your front arc, and perhaps a bomb.

The Quad jumper pilot Sarko Plank has not been spoiled, but he's got the EPT and PS5, and the Quadjumper has been claimed by FFG to have 6 speed 1 maneuves. With the PS3 Unkar coming in at 17 points, we can expect Sarko to run between 20 and 25, enough to fit a few upgrades on your ships.

PS3

There arnt many PS3 ships with epts, but the Contracted Scout and Protectorte Veteran make an interesting pair. A Scout with Mindlink and nothing else is 26 points, and a Veteran with Mindlink and title comes to 24 points. The scout has less firepower, but a turret, large base barrel roll and an entire flank of green maneuvers. The Veteran is just a cheaper Protectorate Ace that moves at the same time as the Scouts.

Kaato is good in a Mindlink list, for the reasons noted. I'd consider taking him with XX-23 S-Threads, as well - as then you can trade one of his focus tokens for a slew of target locks...

I find n'dru can like mind link as well, it means he can get his shot with both target lock and focus a lot easier, then he can become the feeder for the list whilst still being able to push damage through if left alone (this is taking homing missile or concussion missile, cluster missile still likes lone wolf)

I've found Ketsu quite likes it. You drive her to get range 1 on things, which often means either bossting or bumping, so getting focus beforehand is really useful.

I've been running Ketsu a Fang and an Ion Scyk with some success, in a couple of variants.

I think the best is Ketsu Kad and a TPV. Kad being able to get focus tokens on a red move makes him a good addition to an ML list.

And you don't even need to spend the focus on the tracers!

I always assume you'll end up spending the token - it's only a 3-dice attack, and he has to actually hit. Even with guidance chips, it's not garuanteed - but it's still decent odds for the price you're paying, and if you've got a nasty wingman or two, it'll usually do more good than his 2-dice primary popguns.

I made Top-16 at a big regionals yesterday with Boba/Fenn/Manaroo, and the only games I lost were entirely down to my errors, and not at all a weakness in the list. Before the tournament I thought I was being a bit sentimental in taking Boba Fett over Asajj Ventress (which has already won some big tournaments) but now I'm pretty convinced that Mindlink genuinely unlocks something in the Firespray. The Mindlink makes the 3K a great move as you've got Focus after it, fixing the Firespray's problem with turning around, and it also means you don't HAVE to do a green move to clear the stress right away and you can just wait for a good time. It's a genuinely extremely good list.

  • Boba Fett (Attani Mindlink, 4-LOM)
  • Fenn Rau (Attani Mindlink, Autothrusters)
  • Manaroo (Attani Mindlink)

Maciek Paraszczak and his team Legion Krakow won Poland Team Championship last weekend. He was flying Paratanni with:

Assaj (Mindlink, Latts Razzi)

Fenn Rau (Mindlink, Autothrusters, Title)

Manaroo (Mindlink)

Paratanni and Bobatanni have been developed alongside each other and are close cousins.

Both are excellent lists that are FAR stronger on the table than they seem on paper. I was winning tournaments with Palp Defenders and dropped them to run Bobatanni.

I really love these Mindlink lists because they're pretty light on upgrades. It runs counter to the "two ship, stack of cards" sort of list that keeps showing up. Nothing agaisnt any squad, I just think the minimalist squad is cool.

The Mindlink Six:

Tansarri Point Veteran, Gand Findsman, Black Sun Ace, Protectorate Ace, Kaato Leechos and Palob Godalhi.

So called because they all share PS (allowing you to pick and choose activation orders, very useful when planning Mindlink greens and reds, and you can pretty much always mix and match four to a list.

You could drop to a three ship list and take Guri, Manaroo, pretty much any Firespray other than Emon or an Ig2000.

Double IGs can also get good mileage out of Mindlink (although they have a lot of competing options).

Then there's Old Man Fenn, with TBC as a potential replacement for one of the Aces...

It's the pilot abilities that synergise so well with the stacks of Focus tokens flying about. You're squeezing every last drop out of the ship/pilot rather than relying on a monster ship that you've built up with upgrades.

You're all doing it wrong. It's Fenn, Teroch, and Manaroo. Old Fennaroo is the best mindlink list.

... although people have had success with Palob instead of OG Teroch.

.or Talonbane Cobra, seasoned to taste.

When Wave 9 first dropped I was doing pretty well with Guri, Palob and Manaroo. Even with no actions you can triple stack a focus on Guri and get her a TL. It's a fun list, not super competitive but it got me 3rd in a 20 player tournament.

Yeah that's about where my Attani Mindlink started - getting battered about by Guri/Palob/Kavil.

I really think it's starting to pick up a lot of momentum in a wide variety of squad types. The bumping Mindlink list looks horrible to play against.

Guri/Palob/Kavil was one I played around with too. Build a blaster turret/agromech Kavil variant the night before they FAQ nerfed agromech and it never saw the light of day :(

What's the bumping list? Scout's with feedback and mindlink?

Something filthy like this ?

Very similar, it's in that blog link I posted higher up - it came 2nd at a Regional.

I'm tempted to try a pair of Mando Mercs with Tailgunners, and a Protectorate Veteran pretending he's manaru.

Truth. I had a top 4 and a top 16 last Regional season with Mindlinked Kath, Manaroo and 4-LOM. I had Zuckuss on Kath for some huge shots and to proc 4-LOM's ability.

The Paratanni list is a step up in effectiveness though, mostly because of the Shadowcaster's ability to circle the battle, rather than travel in straight lines.

I could never get my head around using Fen and Terry, I like have a 'tank' in my list that can absorb some fire in the opening engagement.

I really really really want to fit this IG alongside Manaroo.

IG88-C:

Mindlink

FCS

Autothrusters

But with Manaroo it only leaves you with 31points, meaning you have to lose the title on Fen :(

ive been trying to come up with a list involving Guri to feed that focus into the mindlinks.

Issue is its like ~30pts left after Guri + Fenn. Not enough for 2 budget ships, no valid options that doesnt break 30pts lol.

That 31 pts fits a Talonbane w/ Mindlink and Vectored Thrusters. Lame mans Fenn Rau if you want that similar punch.

Would Palob do?

Palob:

Mindlink

Autoblaster Turret

(Insert your choice of crew)

Coaking Device

Stygium Particle Accelerator

Comes in between 27-29 points depending on your crew. Gives you a few points leftover for initiative or to put some more goodies on Guri.

Manaroo can also function with only Mindlink for 28 points. I didn't believe it at first, but she's just fine like this.

Yeah, but im also the type that never runs meta stuff. Manaroo in any form is flavor atm.

Polab isnt bad. It also gives me another way to snag some focus if Guri didnt get range1.

Guri 30pts

Attanni Mindlink (1)

Stealth Device (3)

Virago (1)

FCS (2)
Slicers (1)

Fenn Rau 28pts

Attanni Mindlink (1)

Autos (2)

Concord Title (1)

Palob 20pts

Attani Mindlink (1)

Autoblaster (2)

Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

Latts Razzi (2)

Cloaking Device (2)

Total: 99pts

Guri gets range 1, everybody gets focus! Free to TL or barrelroll (or boost) with normal action. Palob can also steal a focus to do this.

Slicers on guri is basically a pointdump. If i dont need my barrelroll or boost, slice something. Obviously i dont want anything that stresses me lol.

Latts Razzi is a crew i really dont get why people hate on her. I would kill to have this on a rebels list. Dang near every PTL user only gains like 2 maybe 3 moves if you use this and odds are the move they were planning to do was green anyway.

i was trying to put Adv Proton Torps on Fenn but too much, cant do ANYTHING with that on him lol (third ship wise)
