I've seen people do this for Netrunner before but I don't know if this is frowned upon for structured play. I'm thinking about getting yellow dice for resources, red for damage, and maybe black for shields. Or even possibly trying to make some custom dice with the actual relevant symbols on them. This would just make it far less fiddly and you'd only have to worry about transporting dice and cards and could forget the tokens.
Using dice to track resources/damage/shields
Honestly, planning on doing this for damage. Not sure about resources. As far as common games go I doubt most people will have an issue. Competition play you will need to use the FFG tokens.
We had the same thought today. Colored dice seems to be a good solution, but idk if it will fly for tournaments.
I have been playing miniatures games for too long!
The trouble with dice in a game involving dice is that is very easy to pick up all the dice and roll, so much so that you may want to use tokens to serve as a reminder to what the dice should total
if
when
they are picked up.

This might be even more potent due to the fact you keep your dice and damage on your card so now you have three dice right next to each other. Granted, the dice will be different shapes. Still plan on buying three dice and trying it out.
Two posts for same topic?
It was an important topic.
1. X-Wing coins as resources
2. ???
3. Profit
Sorry, but 12-siders, the most likely die for damage is too easy to bump. I'm not saying anyone using dice is trying to cheat, but I'm going to ask anyone sitting across from me to use tokens instead.

In a tournament setting, absolutely!
At home, my friends and I will do what is comfortable and fun. Don't have a second die for you Han Solo? Proxy it!
