X-wing Display case!
Looks awesome. Is there anyway to add shelves?
Looking good, but what about the rest of your fleets!
You are showing the Firespray -31 with the Imperial ships, why not with the Scum where it belongs and excels in that faction?

No there is no way to really add shelves or change the spacing unfortuneatly.

Good point. But I don't actually own any scum. My buddy forgot his scum stuff at my house the last time he was over.
Yes my collection does have holes in it. Working on it!

I have the same case. I purchased wooden dowels that are the same size as the metal ones and painted them the same color. I also bought metal colored binder clips so they can clamp on the vertical supports. Finally I purchased o-rings that fit over the dowels to hold the extra glass shelfs off the wood. This will allow me to double the shelf space once I find a place that you can purchase tempered cut glass.

For that effort, wouldn't it have been easier to just buy the same case again and transplant the horizontal supports?
Looks great, but you probably need to talk to FFG re Rebels being on top.

No the shelves sit on a welded metal frame that is covered in powder coated paint. I would have to sand blast off the paint, wleld on additional supports and have the frames re-coated so it does not rust. I know how to do all that, just don't have access to the tools.
Edited by TreebeardTheEntI've used those IKEA cases before myself. And the Imperial Assault mini's on top. (painted by a friend of mine.)
(I used window privacy film to create the black backdrop and hide the wires to the lighting. It makes the mini 'pop'.)
Actually, adding shelves isn't tough... I did it. Here is a link to my blog where I explained a bit. Very simple, to be honest.

Once again, put scum on the bottom when everyone knows where they end up in the tournaments.

Sick!
Yeah, I thought with as well as the Imperial Assault minis came out, I had to display them next my X-Wing stuff. I, in part, justify my collection as game room decor. Here are two slightly clearer pictures. But again, my hat is off to my friend, an X-Wing player himself, for painting these.
And rather than add new shelves (because I wanted the light to pass easily through what I had to the lower levels) I picked up the acrylic risers at the nearby Container Store. That made it easy to use the cubic space without making it look cluttered; though, admittedly, they are getting full. After the next wave I will get a third case and Scum will get of home of its own (And my Imperial Assault min's i will move down "into the light."

Thanks for sharing. Gives me something to shoot for
I gotta get me a light in my case that looks excellent.
I'm still pretty Gung hoe for xwing. Maybe next year I'll try out imperial assault
Running off the energy of Rogue One, I decided not to wait for the next wave. BTW, if you decide to use the Privacy film (big box orange home store near you will have it for less than $20.) I do recommend the using the lubricating solution. It definitely makes it easier and improves the finished result. (I re-did the first two after seeing the difference it makes.)

Bumping this thread because I'm pretty proud of my newly constructed IKEA Brimnes Display Case . My girlfriend created the decals. I'm looking to add two more shelves by cutting acrylic into two sheets so I can fit all my non-epic ships into one place.
