The Tie Defender isn't clone wars era though.

Recuscants had droid brains, not crews. So if you could hack into it, you're good to go. This could be portrayed in the game as the first ship not to have an officer slot.

The CIS ships did, but there have been lore/whatever it is now that has the droid brain being swapped out and the ship refitted to accommodate an organic crew.
