Recreating PC Folios from the Beginner Game

By Davwapoqui, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hi, everybody,

I'm wondering if it's possible to add text to a jpeg that will serve as the cover sheet for my son's self-generated PC; specifically, I'd like to match as closely as possible the PC folios Fantasy Flight includes w/the Beginner Games.

In addition to the maps, character tokens, & PC folios included w/the beginner boxes of F&D & EotE, at our table, my son & I incorporate our action figure collections, the Black Series Titanium vessels, the Bladebuilder lightsabers, & just about anything else that serves as a visual aid to help spark my boy's imagination or makes our campaign more fun.

I'm an forty-two-year-old Dad who grew up a Star Wars kid back in the '80s & a tabletop RPG gamer (mostly AD&D), & my son's (he's 8) interest in "a galaxy far, far away" emerged last summer, so I fortunately came across Force & Destiny a few months ago; however, I'm challenged when it comes to solving tech issues such as image manipulation, & I'd really enjoy presenting him w/a character folio for his self-generated PC that resembles the professionalism of the Beginner Game folios.

I'm using the Bastion Kains pdf Character Sheets to type all of my son's PC info, but I'd really enjoy adding a cover sheet with the character's name & career. I tried using a meme generator to accomplish this, but it doesn't look very good.

Any ideas?

Thanks for taking the time to read.

I've got some blank Photoshop templates that I use to make some of those, myself.

If you'd like, feel free to PM me with the information you want on them, which BG format (I've got EotE, AoR, FaD, and a TFA/generic).

Awesome! Thanks, Nytwyng! I'll PM you shortly!

No problemo.

Won't be with the files til this evening, but it's usually a snap to put one together.

Note that the folios from the beginner game have half the character sheet on one page, and the other half of the character sheet on the next page. Then there’s lots of explanatory material for the other halves of the respective sheets.

That’s all fine and dandy for the beginner game, but after a little while I believe you will find that format to be awkward and unwieldy. That’s where the regular character sheets would be much more useful.

And you can print off explanatory material to keep side-by-side with your character sheets, without necessarily using the character folios.

Also, the folios are a bit of a pain if you’re trying to use standard 8.5x11in paper. You have to put two separate sheets of paper side-by-side and make them line up properly. If you print on tabloid-size 11x17 paper, you can print the two pages side-by-side on the same sheet, and the folios would work better. But then they’d be much more of a pain to deal with.

I could be wrong, but I think he's mainly just looking for a folio cover.

And, having put the front and back covers together for him...I was correct. ;)
