Best is to expect nothing, but that is not always possible
So what do you expect from the movie, what you would like to see?

Pure and glorious levels of awesome.
I expect to eat some popcorn and see a star wars film....
I expect precisely one Rogue. No more... no less...
I think they have learnt from the Episode 1 folly. Yes it was still Star Wars, and yes I have seen it more than once on purpose, but I get a sense this will be up there for a decent addition to the Star Wars universe.
To be honest, I'm excited to see a Star Wars movie that doesn't revolve around our existing heroes.
The universe is a big place but it's starting to feel very small and incestuous.
I would prefer to see more stories from the 'verse as opposed to Han and Fett stories in the future too. Those characters are great as they are and more interesting off screen at this point.
I expect to see a sarcastic droid voiced by Alan Tudyk, which is probably as close as we'll ever get to resurrecting Hoban Wash...
I expect another poorly directed war movie dumped on another Rebel focused narrative. I want nothing from it as I think the U-Wing and TIE Stryker are both hideous, and that death troopers are a pitiful knock off of Cronal's Black Hole operatives and Crix's Storm Commandos.
I imagine it to be critically acclaimed, yet be mediocre or worae, and sell based off flashy bits and distasteful plot selling off the Star Wars name. I also think Disney milking everything and fighting to dumb the movie to be family friendly will bite it in the ass more than TFA did.
I have more things to say, but there are enough new canon fanboys who disagree if I even mention it.

Yep that isn't a story that's been told many times before. Star wars has always been meant for the younger crowds. Problem is, when they first came out, those younger crowds wanted it to grow with them and not still pander to the same age group.
That's to yours and many others own folly.
Edited by Hujoe BigsI think it will be far better than Episode VII
I expect to be pleasantly entertained for a couple of hours and give my family a fun night out at the cinema. Anything less would be a disappointment, anything more would be a bonus.
A GLORIOUS SW movie that makes my inner-child very happy!!!
I have to be a little carefull though, going in to the movie with to high expectations, may lead to certain dissapointment. So I am trying to curb my enthusiasm, by saying to my self: "Its going to be bad... a B-movie. Nothing to really get excited about...."
I think people will hate it because it says Star Wars
I think people will love it because it says Star Wars
I think people will hate it because it doesn't fit with what they feel is the only true interpretation of what Star Wars is supposed to be.
I think some people will be disposed to hate it regardless of how it actually turns out.
I expect to enjoy it, and be impressed with the production design and aesthetics - the former because the trailers make me think it's going to be good, the latter because I already KNOW from the trailers that I like the production design and aesthetics, they're Star Wars AF whilst still being fairly original.
This month cannot pass fast enough. I have the day off the following day and will probably go to a midnight screening.
It's entirely possible I will go in my TIE pilot costume because I'm apparently that big of a nerd.
It's also x-wing night that night so YAAAAY
I expect to love it on the first pass, because it's Star Wars and it's new.
Then I expect on the second to third pass I'll be less enamoured and start to pick holes in it.
Deja vu with Force Awakens really.
More or less as Karhedron says...
I like the idea of films in the same period of the OT.
The new ships are fine, the new stormtroopers look awesome.
As long as is better than the prequels, great.
Better than ep VII, awesome.

I'm dying of envy...

There's a photo in the link in my sig. I made it myself, it's my first cosplay. You could too!
Not a lot given the directors past work.

Very nice!
I'm bit lazy, and the baby doesn't let much free time.
And imperial costumes are veeery expensive here... (near 500 euros nice quality, to 1000 euros great quality)
that's a lot of money when a decent salary here is 1200 euros/month

Whole thing only cost me about £200 including all the tools, and the most expensive part of that which wasn't tools, was the gloves.
With more time and better tools I could have done a much better job (and am working on Fenn Rau for UKGE next year to a much higher standard I hope) but for the basics, it was pretty straightforward.
Buddy talked me out of going in my mando armor to TFA, not missing it this time.

And he is STILL your buddy?
A T-65 fix.
I'm severely underwhelmed.
I had 18 tickets for midnight screening of Force Awakens, and watched it 3 times over the first four days (I had Sunday off). I'd rank it probably the #2 Star Wars film, just behind Empire. The trailers had me in chills months before it was out. Rogue One... Genuinely, I don't see it as a Star Wars film. I think it's a film set in the Star Wars universe, but nothing in the trailers interests or excites me particularly. I'll probably see it at the cinema, but I don't think I'll be there at midnight.
I work for part of the world's largest cinema company. Officially we expect huge near-TFA things from Rogue One, unofficially we're a bit nervous.
