anti pursuit lasers and r2d2 timing?

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

I read two threads and both see it differently. None of those are in the Questions and Answers.

So I have R2D2 on Poe and he has anti pursuit lasers on his ship. He has initiative.

I do a green maneuver and bump him, So does the shield get gained first or does the damage hit then the shield gets gained.

Both cards say the following:

APL:

After an enemy ship performs a manoeuvre that causes it to overlap your ship, roll 1 attack die. On a HIT or Crit result, the enemy ship suffers 1 damage.
R2D2:
After executing a green manoeuvre, you may recover one shield (up to your shield value).
Both say after completing a Manoeuvre.
So what is the timing. Is it based on Initiative? So in this case since he has Initiative he must act first doing one damage and then R2D2 kicks in?
Help please?
Thanks,

Yup. It's all down to initiative. If Poe player has initiative, gain shields, THEN take damage. If APL player has initiative take damage first, THEN regen shield.

If 2 triggers at the same time, player with initiative triggers there's first. I had an Oicunn/Emperor/ion projector list that ensured they would have initiative. They would clear the ion, my projector would add an ion. Making them do a 1 straight and remain in place. Ready for next round Oicunn grind fest. Initiative can be very important in builds for timing purposes alone.

I should add, if I had initiative I would have added a second ion token, then he would have removed both tokens, free to move off to where ever he wanted.

Was about to say that APL is large ship only then realised that 'he' was not Poe.

Great! So we played it correct then.

Nice

It's not initiative. FAQ - APL first, then R2.

I know, it cost me at the team comp in October.

Oh. Well he had initiative anyway, so by default we still played it INcorrectly.

If a ship equipped with R2-D2 executes a green maneuver and its base or maneuver template overlaps an obstacle token or its base overlaps a ship equipped with Anti-Pursuit Lasers, that ship recovers 1 shield before rolling for damage.

They must have changed it or it looks like you got screwed too, because the ship recovers 1 shield before rolling for damage.

Do you have a page reference handy by any chance? Nothing I can find in the FAQ specifies a specific order.

I just dug up that FAQ page that was a different guy up thread, but yes, looks like R2D2 then APL.

Thanks! I was looking under APL and in the FAQ section, but for whatever reason did not check R2.
