Prey and the rules of following ( spoiler for The Devourer below)

By Pgimmo, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

SPOILER FOR the devourer below

Agenda 1b calls for a monster to spawn at the the Main Path.

FOr me this happened to be a prey. However the location icons for Arkham woods change on the reveal so technically the prey cannot take the same route through the woods that I did can it?

Based on the iconography i read it as therefore not being able to follow - as it couldn't move to me direct and nowhere else was technically closer.

Hope that makes sense! Am I correct?

You missed the key line on the revealed side of the main path:

The Main Path is connected to each other Woods location

Hope that helps.

Thanks - I did overlook that.

I might have missed something, but it sounds like you're treating the Prey ability as something which causes an enemy to move. If so, you're mistaking Prey for Hunter. Prey doesn't make enemies chase you down, it's a tie-breaker preference for when an enemy has multiple equal options to engage.

I figured a monster with Prey won't leave it's location (it only has a prefered sort of investigator it will engage.) unless it also has the "hunter" keyword. (like the one who turns up in the midnight masks)

from theback of the "learn to play" guide: Prey: indicates wich investigator an enemy will engage (or move towards if it has the hunter keyword) if there are multiple valid options.

The rules reference doesn't mention it moving between locations.

spoilers: ofcourse in the hunter below you are still effed as you need to go to the main path to reach the ritual site. In my case that was a dark young! Auch!

That is correct! Prey just is a tiebreaker for whom an enemy attacks if it has a choice. It doesn't give it the ability to move around and follow you.
