Do any of you play X wing too? I haven't seen any of these in person and I'm curious if they are the same thickness and comparable material.

Yes, the maps are made of the same material, but smaller in size. The Imperial Assault game has a smaller footprint than X-Wing and Armada.

Additionally, each map also comes with the skirmish cards to explain the mission setups - which is cool because if you have all the kit, finding the cards can be a hassle.

Thanks for the reply, I was aware of the smaller size but it's good to know they all come with the cards too. I really like the quality of the X wing mats so I'll have to get these as well.

They had these mats on sale at Worlds so of course I had to snag one while I was there.

I like these mats but they are 40 bucks Canadian, 18 bucks cheaper than the actual expansion.. for me it just doesn't make sense to grab one over the expansion.

For the boxed expansions I don't see why you'd pick one or the other. For things like the Bantha Rider or the Mat, I can see that.

Personally I'm getting everything. The mats for me arent' a way to avoid purchasing other things, but a really nice play space upgrade and a time saver.

I've finished a few more skirmishes at tourneys because of the setup time saved by rolling out the mats.

The only cards contained in the mats are the two skirmish missions associated with the map. You do not get any of the other cards from the expansion from which the map is lifted.

This map is actually from the Agent Blaise villain pack so its Skirmish missions would have come in this pack.

It does, however, require tiles from the Bespin Gambit small box expansion.
