So if I land on an asteroid via a boost but have collision detector i do NOT lose my action? So I can still target lock/Fire ect... Thanks...
Just want some clarification on Collision detector. Thanks.
After a ship’s base or maneuver template overlaps an obstacle, and the overlap is not from executing a maneuver, it suffers an effect based on the type of obstacle:
• Asteroid: The ship rolls 1 attack die. On a hit result, it suffers one damage; on a crit result, it suffers one critical damage. While a ship is overlapping an asteroid, it cannot perform any attacks.
• Debris Cloud: The ship receives 1 stress token. Then, the ship rolls 1 attack die. On a Crit result, it suffers one critical damage."
No.
Because normally you can't barrel roll/boost/decloak if doing so would cause your ship or your maneuver template to overlap a ship or obstacle. Collision Detector simply lets you do that. You still roll for damage, skip your perform action step, ect...
skip your perform action step
Sorry but no, you don't skip it. The new FAQ that I just quoted make it clear.
There are a couple exceptions, but chances are your boost was your action, so most of the time it's a moot point. However, this is also the only difference I believe between the normal rules for overlapping an obstacle, so it may or may not turn out to be an oversight.
Decloaking doesn't have an action step so there isn't one to skip, most of the time the BR and the Boost are your actions so unless you are going to use Push the Limit or Experimental Interface you won't have a second action to worry about skipping. Landing on the asteroid keeps you from firing, roll for damage on the asteroid but only take damage if you roll a "boom" result since Collision Detector allows you to ignore the "kaboom" results and no reason to roll for damage on debris since the only way it can cause damage is with a "kaboom" that CD ignores. You can fire while sitting on a debris cloud, however you will still have to take the stress token.
Reading this raises a question for me since I just picked up Heroes of the Resistance: if I have Collision detector on "Snap" Wesley and use Snap's ability to boost onto (or just over) a rock, do I still get the action step? So its really a Snap ability question, is that boost within the maneuver step or fully after the step?
I would say after. But am no expert

Snap's ability says "after" so the maneuver is completed then you get a free boost action. So I would say that as long as it wasn't a debris field (they give you stress that I believe would keep you from being able to perform another action) then you would still get your action.
Cool, except I just looked at my cards and Collision Detector is a system, not tech, so Snap can't take it. Back to the drawing board for me. Maybe Corran Horn with bb8, CD, PTL...
skip your perform action step

Unless I'm misreading that new section in the FAQ, muribundi is right. The only way you ever lose your perform action step when hitting an asteroid is if you hit it while performing a maneuver.

He's right, you don't skip your perform an action step unless it's in the maneuver stage, of course it's hard to skip your perform action step if you're in that step...
I was just listing the parts of overlapping a obstacle, and lost track of the actual question.
Mmmm. What would happen if a phantom decloaked into a debris and then cleared it with a green maneuver? Would it be able to shed the stress and get an action afterwards?
Yes, as long as the manoeuvre template did not cross the debris.
