Noob List

By Daveb440, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys,

Just started the game. Haven't played a game yet but decided to go into a small tournament in town this weekend. Don't have much of a collection but here it is in all its glory:

- X-Wing "Force Awakens" Starter Set

- Heroes of the Resistance Expansion

- B-Wing Expansion

- Resistance X-Wing Expansion

Here's a build I was thinking of with my limited resources:

- Poe Dameron: X-Wing (Pilot Skill 8), Black One (Ship Upgrade), Weapons Guidance, Wired, Targeting

- "Snap" Wexley: X-Wing (Pilot Skill 6), Weapons Guidance, BB-8, Snap Shot

- Dagger Squadron Pilot: B-Wing (Pilot Skill 4), Fire-Control System, Ion Cannon

Are there any suggestions? I don't have a lot of upgrade cards so have chosen what I thought could work.

Are there any suggestions as to the next purchase?

Thanks :)

Next Purchase if you want to focus on Rebels: K-wing. It's the best Rebel value-for-money. If you have more cash to spend, get the original Core Set, Millenium Falcon or Rebel Aces or Rebel Transport. Those sets have upgrades Rebels need, and a good variety of useable pilots. Pick one depending on what appeals to you personnally.

With your limited collection just keep trying combos until you find something you like. If playing casually, proxy upgrade cards you don't have.

The list you posted is full of holes. You don't want Poe stressed, you want him focused. Drop wired and give him an EPT he can use. Out of the sets you have, I recommend Cool Hand. Pattern Analyzer is better Tech for Poe. Snap likes Primed Thrusters. The B-wing is fine.

Thanks for the advice. Will make changes and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again.

Double T70 is pretty good choice for what you have.

T-70 X-Wing: · Poe Dameron (33)

Trick Shot (0)

· BB-8 (2)

Integrated Astromech (0)

· Black One (1)

Pattern Analyzer (2)

T-70 X-Wing: · "Snap" Wexley (28)

Cool Hand (1)

Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)

Targeting Astromech (2)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Pattern Analyzer (2)

B-Wing: Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

So, what we do we have here?

Poe is PS9 with BB8 and Black One. Your list needs Poe to be ps9 cause you dont have regen and this is your best chance against inquisitor, etc, is reacting to their moves and not getting blocked. Patrern analyzer lets you do red moves and still get ur focus. Trickshot lets you land in front of an asteroid and fore through it, giving you an extra attack die, and you get a defense die when they attack you thanks to the asteroid. With BB8, you can barrel roll away next round.

Snap is really cool here, hence the cool hand, haha. I just came up with this and it sounds awesome. So, he can tallon roll or k-turn, get a TL with droid, boost thanks to his ability, get his focus thanks to pattern analyzer. And if you get range one of an enemy, its 5 hits thanks to advanced proton torp! Better yet, check this out, you fly over debris with like a 3 straight, boost into range 1 with Snap, TL for his action with pattern analyzer, get a stress, discard cool hand for a focus, then lose the stress thanks to Pattern analyzer! Wtf! Perfect setup for advanced proton torpedos! This sounds confusing maybe if its your first game, but you will catch on fast once your ships are moving around the table.

Bwing is there just for filler and its a big gun, so not so bad.

1pt for initiative.

Dont drop to ps8 poe and put fcs on bwing. You want PS9 Poe with BB8 and blackone to erase Omega Leader target locks, inquisitor target locks, etc.

There are a lot of low ps heavy hitters like YVs known as party bus, manaroo, ryad, vessery, etc. Use snap and the proton torp to hit them hard. And get them out of the game fast. Dont waste it if you dont have both a TL and cool hand. Dont waste cool hand trying to hit a higher ps ship with torp. It wont happen. Against higher ps ships, use cool hand for an evade if they are coming at ya.

Bwing has a barrel roll. Use it to block higher ps ships that poe and snap may have a hard time hitting. You will figure out who those ships are in first round of combat. Its ur first game, so blocking will be really difficult, so just place the bwing where you dont want your opponent to be.

Anyways, most importantly, have fun and good luck!

Lol... I have to really figure out my manoeuvring. It let me down badly. So many times I landed on asteroids and crashed into ships. Also, need to read my damned cards. Also, didn't help that the dice were like ice. Thinking I was a little to aggressive and needed to get the B-Wing to get shooting earlier on in the piece and softening up some targets rather than, muck around posturing. Will give it another go when I get the chance though because it was kind of fun unleashing torpedoes onto them unsuspecting ties.

Thanks for the advice. Hope to be having more upgrades shortly. Will be giving Millenium Falcon and Poe a run next time, any tips appreciated. Same problem though, lack of upgrades until I can buy some other expansions.
