Star Wars Rebels: The Adventures of Hondo....

By ExpandingUniverse, in Game Masters

.... I'd watch it.

... and buy a tshirt, mug, stationery set, mouse mat, clock, phone case etc etc.. I don't usually bother with posting stuff like this but I've just finished watching Season 2 of SWR. I like his voice acting and direction in the cartoon... sorry animated feature ;)

We need an 'Off Topic But Related to Star Wars' section on these forums

"Traitors, Scum, I am so proud … but so betrayed. "

I loved Hondo in The Clone Wars. One of the best characters in the whole series. I don't care for him too much in Rebels. He's still Hondo, but, i dunno... he just lacks something. I think a lot of it is his new wardrobe. His look.

Yeah, the horny-beard just doesn't work.

Also in reference to the OP, I totally want to know how Boba got the Slave-1 back from Hondo... I bet there's some comedy gold there just waiting to happen.... also more Aurra Sing and Hondo, the quick comments about their history is just so wrong. It's like a dirty Marx Brothers sketch, you gotta be paying attention to get the joke, and when you do you can never unsee it....

I still enjoy him, but not as much. I think it's more that he's devolved to be kind of pathetic. He used to be a commanding scoundrel, staring down Darth Maul and telling him he's not the first laser-sword-wielding maniac he's had to face...and now he's just credit-hungry scam artist. He used to have a sense of "honour", warped though it might have been; now he has none at all.

I'd like to see his devolution story and see him regain some of his lost honour and sense of command.

It's mainly that they've just gone full Jack Sparrow with him.

That's not to say that there's not some fun to be had with that, but we're seeing him in a different light, through the perspective of characters who see him differently than those in TCW did. He's no longer the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, of the Curse of the Black Pearl era...he's On Stranger Tides Jack Sparrow. For better or for worse.

I do like this as part of the story, but you are absolutely right, Hondo is for the most part out of business, He basically lost everything and it seems that the empire is to "blame" for that. Pathetic and old are new words you can attach to Hondo, but I still like him as a character and I think it works quite well from a character development perspective as Hondo was always on track to become the man he is in Rebels.

I'm all for anything in Star Wars that focuses on non-Force users, but Hondo isn't my favorite character. My first choice would be a series focusing on a group of bounty hunters, but Star Wars has cast them as the bad guys (and smugglers as the "good guys"), so that's quite unlikely to happen unless they make them laughable buffoons (like the current Hondo the once-pirate).

Ventress was a bounty hunter together with Vos and they were certainly … uhm ... well … the darkside good guys or something ... the Boba Fett crew during the clone wars had their own "we are the good guys" moments too. Besides, is a Boba Fett movie not actually planned as the third side-story movie?
