Difference between the two Millennium Falcon sets?

By Starslayer72, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello.

New player here, looking for some information. What is the difference between the two Falcon sets? Im old, so Id rather have the original crew of Han & Chewie, rather then the old fart Solo from Force Awakens if that matters. Is one the 70's crew (young) and the other from the new movie? (old age)

Thanks!

They (Han and Chewie) have different pilot abilities, depending on what pack you get, and come with different upgrades and different additional pilots. Also there is the obvious addition of the T-70 with the new pack as well as the additional cost.

Original Han has the option of re-rolling all of his attack dice, new Han can be placed anywhere on the play surface that is farther than range 3 from any enemy ships already placed. Original Chewie flips faceup damage cards dealt to him without resolving their effects, new Chewie gets a revenge shot when another friendly ship at range 1 - 3 is destroyed.

Yes, the original Millenium Falcon expansion pack contains pilots and crew that reflect characters from the original trilogy.

The new Heroes of the Resistance expansion pack contains pilots and crew that reflect characters from The Force Awakens.

Also worth noting that the sets contain completely different upgrade cards. The original Falcon has some good ones that used only really to be available in that box (Engine Upgrade and Veteran Instincts in particular) though there are much more freely available now.

Ok, thank you very much for the help. I dont see any need for two Millennium Falcons- so I think I'll stick with the original. Id like to try a trench run game sometime too.

STAY ON TARGET.

Of the two sets personally I'd recommend Heroes of the Resistance. The generic pilots are better balanced and it does contain several very good upgrades not available elsewhere.

And the minis are nicer.

But young Hans the better pilot, I'd argue young chewie is better too as his older sells kinda easy to bypass.

Reys decent but flies very differently from regular falcons as she has to get things in arc.

Blasphemy! I now have a THIRD YT-1300, two with round dishes and one with rectangular! LOL!
