I'm going to my first regional championship in December, and the number one thing on my mind is whether or not it will be smelly.
What have been your experiences?

It probably depends on the venue. If it is crowded with poor circulation it will probably start to get a little funky after a couple of rounds.
100'ish gamers crammed into a space for several hours with a highly stressful task?
Nah, should be great!
Ignore me, I've not been to a regional, just being silly
The FFG event center was fine that way. But it's pretty big and wide open with good circulation.
It depends entirely on the venue.
Hmmmm. I wonder what kind of countermeasures I could bring to this event.
Perhaps I could secretly spray the offenders with cologne to mask the smell?
I could occasionally cropdust the whole event center with dual air freshener cans.
Or I could just spray air freshener over my opponent and myself before every game.
Hang little air fresheners on your ships.

Well, I'm flying the Ghost so I should be able to set this on top of it.
Wow, we need some news or something.
Wow, we need some news or something.
No kidding.
Perhaps FFG could address this issue by selling X-Wing air fresheners.
Like maybe scented ship bases or pegs?
Or something that could attach to the ships some way?
That air freshener would count as illegally modifying your ship, so expect FFG to personally escort you from the smelly premises (or smemises, as the case would be).
I've come home from regionals and store championships with considerably sweaty armpits (so maybe I was an offender), but I've never noticed an overall 'bad smell' at any of the venues I've attended. I think most X-Wing players are pretty hygienic -- they bathe and wear deodorant and stuff.
Team Covenant has pleasant air quality for their Tulsa regional. Can't speak to any others.
I should have known: a Boba Rick thread ...
Should be fine; most of the guys that have the money to go are grown and have wives and houses and kinda take care of themselves.
It depends on the venue and temperature... during one regional that I was at, there was some much sweat induced humidity that the toilets were glistening.
There's a reason why a subset of x-wing tournament goers wished the championship coins were made of soap...
Just get a star wars dice bag and fill it with potpourri and keep it next you while you play. Nobody will know where the sweet smell of apple cinnamon is coming from
Depends on if the X-Wing event takes place at the same time or near the time of a Magic: The Gathering event. If yes, then...............
Saturday was the first tournament i went to that had more than ~30 people. I have a bad sense of smell so i largely dont notice body odor but the only times i noticed anything funky was when someone dropped a bomb in the bathroom, as it smelled more like poodoo and not sweat lol.

Real issues, man. Real issues. These things need to be discussed.

Poodoo smell, while unpleasant, is an interrupt... but body odor is a static effect that just won't go away.
Edited by Boba RickSalt Lake regionals last year were fine, though it was in a large venue. Then again, it was also during a gaming con, so I expected the worst despite the size.
Everything is smelly, from a certain point of view.

This looks like this thread, while somewhat I hope in jest, looks like a solution trying to cause a problem.

This is a completely tongue-in-cheek silly thread.
But I am going to be in a room with a bunch of other gamers for 10 hours for crying out loud!!!!
