Are we talking about the TV show or the book? I don't really recall there being much sex in the book. Or...it was very briefly mentioned, but not really gone into that much. The TV show went way overboard on the sex, but the books might mention it happened, but not really much description.

Also, if you are talking about the tv show, you gotta give the books a try. Season 1 is 1000 pages turned into ten 50 min. episodes.

I tried to read that, but found it horribly dull. I read all the first book and can't recall if I ever managed to start the 2nd. If I did, I didn't get far.

Book, I've only watched maybe the first 30 minutes of the TV show. I know I read the first book, I may of started on the second or even the third... but that was some time ago. I don't remember exactly what turned me off to them, and it wasn't likely one single thing. But I do remember thinking "Well that's about enough of that"

How about Wheel of time?

Ok I called it quits about 7 and a half books in, but that was because I was reading them back to back and that kinda burned me out. (Actually what triggered me was a very minor character from book 1 popping back up 7 books later- and me imediatly getting the reference.) But it was real cool story.

The Hechee Saga by Pohl is not bad and is an enjoyable read.

Nova by Sam Delany is also very good.

I'm surprised no one mentioned any Star Wars novels. If you can find the X-Wing series, those are really good (plus you get to see Tycho, Vessery, Brath, Isard, and many other people in the game). Or my personal favourite, Revan. I think it's my favourite book, actually.

Have like 8 books of it at home, but I've found it hard to get through them all as well.

I should consider some of the older Star Wars books like Darth Tam said, I haven't read some of them or at least not read them in many years.

I'd heard that and tried listening to the audio book....but I couldn't get far. Maybe it was the audio book version? It just wasn't very exciting. It was confusing who was who when you got to the 2ndary pilots after a short bit. That's where I think maybe reading the names would help.

There's that. I used to mix the pilots up (i think that about 20 people flew for Rogue Squadron). But once you see the names enough, you get used to it. And don't forget that Wraith Squadron has different person pilots, for the most part.

Azimov's Science Fiction.

Two monthly periodical magazines full of good, great and in between science fiction stories. I highly recommend both. Been reading them for decades now.

I can't believe I forgot to mention these: Red Rising and The Fear Saga

Both are some fairly deep worlds with engaging writing and characters.
