Stuck in a Rut

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Armada

Whenever I build an MC80L, I always always always end up putting 2 Tubrolaser upgrades on it. I will remove points from somewhere to fit the extra upgrade. I always do this because it is the only ship that has 2 Turbolaser slots, so I want to get the most utility and fear out of it. Typically the ship performs very well.

I'm wondering if anyone else has these weird tendencies. I got this idea from the post about giving titles to every ship and wanted to expand on it to hear everyone's OCD habits related to fleet building.

I have never ran an AFMKii without gunnery teams. Even Gallant Haven. I know, that's not so crazy, since their broadside is their money shot, but literally all my AFMKii's start at 79 pts. But honestly, there are ships that just have "proper" upgrades for the points. Demo without ET? never seen it. I also don't think I have ever flown a non-titled MC-80.so, not so much OCD as it is just natural tendencies? Thats my story and I'm gonna stick to it....till questioned, at least.... :D

All my lists start with both Kallus and Titus.

Inefficient, sure, but when they pay off, they pay off big.

With proper positioning, demo can play almost as well without et, and it can be a great way to save 8 points... the only thing I miss is the double ram...

I have an issue where I get half way through building a list and I'll just completely write off the concept that I based it around and delete everything I've built on it. Don't know why I do this but it's annoying as hell

For me ISD-IIs cost 117 points. ECM is almost mandatory otherwise save 17 and take an ISD-I.

I wish my ISD2s were 117 points with ECMs

Errrrm.... inflation?

Try again

For me, I have to get squadrons in multiples of 2. It's unfathomable to waste a possible deployment stall by having an odd number of squadrons. Plus I just like it better aesthetically.

Also, I can't build an MC30 without: Admo, Intel Officer, Ordnance Experts, Advanced Projectors, X17, Ex Launchers or APT, depedning on who I'm playing.

I've been having trouble also with Lady-80's, like you, because it feels like they need a lot to fulfill the specific role I want. I'd say my biggest go-to upgrade (MUST HAVE) for it, is the engine tech. I know the double brace thing is pew pew, but without the 2nd redirect, I've been having problems getting it to survive frontal assaults. I like having ET to get her around the flank and put a serious fire under my opponents ass.

Just stick Lando on the Liberty. It's wiggly enough if you spam navs that you really have to worry about 1 big turn of damage.

Problem with Lando is that he doesn't help against squadrons. Liberty hates squadrons, with only 2 shields on sides and 1 redirect....she really hates squadrons.

I don't think any big ship really likes being hit by squadrons. Your main defense against that is to play aggressively and disciplined. You basically are in race against time (you want to the shooting to start turn 2 at the latest) to kill the BCCs and squad command ships (and for the love of god kill Yavaris as fast as you can, hopefully with your other ships before your big ship gets into swarm range).

I think we all have some small mania in regard to our beloved plastic spaceships. Mine are:

- I never ran an untitled MC30.

- All my ISD 2 are the same, with slight variations allowed only in the title, officer and offensive retro slots: LS, X17, GT, ECM.

- I ran one million of black dice ships, all of them have OE. 95% of them had APT and 5 % expanded launchers.

just to name a few.

I always run Yavaris with FC and FCT. And when I bring Yavaris, 2 B-Wings also tag along. And with B-Wings comes 1 HWK. And if I have a HWK, I'll need Escort so there is an X-Wing. Now I'm already going down the path of Bombers, may as well bring BCC, but now I need 2 more squads for the Flotilla to activate.

My list basically build themselves.

I had to consciously make my own version of the Imperial Demo/Rhymer withdrawal challenge.

My crutch was every list was built with 130+ sqaud screen and then deciding what ships to support it.

Also, Home Ones. Seriously. I get the heeby jeebies and think my fleets are too squishy without them.

True, but liberty likes them least. 3 pips and you're taking hull damage, maybe crits, and we're the only large ship that does not come default with contain.

Aggressive play; agreed, and that's exactly why I want that Engine Tech!

Cant remember when I last used ET on Demo. Don't need it as I fly it alongside the ISD in support instead of by himself.

My demo build has never changed, demo, et, acm.
