Squadron markings

By Dedmanzhand, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Found a pretty cool way to differentiate between similar looking Squadrons in close proximity (cough, cough... Rhymerball).

Picked these up from a craft specialist on the Bay. Cheap as anything, fit perfectly, and as they are laser cut the detail is awesome. Gonna paint them different colours probably...

I'll PM the link to anyone who wants it

Not so much with Squadrons, but I've already made some name plagues for the ships. Was looking for something to tell squads apart too, then found these.

I ran much of the last tournament season with 8 YT2400 and it got to be a pain to try and remember them. A color code would have been helpful to remind me which ones i wanted to go where.

If your Squadrons are Painted, then it serves no purpose.

Tournament rules specify that if you are playing a mirror-match, then you must designate which squadrons belong to which player, with one player taking the white tokens and the other, the black tokens...

These are to match the Ship Designation tokens.

But, that is just one way of designation between players - Paint Schemes are another...

So the Hook serves a very distinct purpose.

I'd also like a way to keep tabs on unique squadrons...

Oh, by no doubt.

I am simply answering the question of "Does it actually serve a purpose?" that was presented, and point out that, yes, it does.

As far as FFG is concerned, the Squadron Disk is enough of an identifier between Rhymer and a Normal Bomber... But of course, that is ideal-world thinking :)

I played a store tourney game where my 8 painted YT2400's against an opponent with 7 painted yt2400's. The paint jobs did little good as at this small of a scale there was no way to differentiate between the two players ships in a scrum. This was actually the exact game I was thinking of when I mentioned these would have been perfect to have months ago. The cardboard token are just so bleh, especially on squadrons you have already gone through the effort to customize.

It is a bit lacking, but I promise my squads in their current iteration have never been mistaken in a mirror match. I find the location of the 'markers' on ships and squads is near unseeable during the game regardless. They needed a front marker as well as a rear.

I think these should be quite visible. Unique Squadrons...

Please PM me the link mate

I followed the link, but I was foiled in the fact that they are manufactured east of the atlantic and thus my shipping cost was astronomical. I need someone to make them here in the states so I'm not paying three times the value of the item in shipping!

PM me please. These are awesome.

I'm in the same boat, but there are a ton of mini scenery manufacturers here in the States that could probably do it. Find one that already does game tokens, send them a pic, and open negotiations. They may not be willing to put them up for sale on their website, but most will do custom work on the side.

I don't have a laser cutter. But I have a 3d printer and have a few things in the works.

Have the guy that I bought them from currently working on these. He is very friendly and helpful...

I would suggest negative space it instead. Round disk with the symbol cut out.

Awesome...
