Kylo Ren, and why i am pretty worried about him?

By ForceM, in X-Wing

If the SF title was 2 paragraphs instead of 1 long one, with "If you do not" being the first words of the 2nd paragraph, then yes it would fire twice out the arse and would probably make it pretty mean. Especially backdraft lol holy crap.

Since its one long one, its not two conditions, its one with two possible effects. Thats how they write things in this game.

Also for the record that was the first time i ever used Kanan crew. I rarely use rebel crew ships (ARCs are the most common, but theyre also new), and even i knew about the kanan faq. I actually read the entire faq, not just what affects my stuff. Not like its a crazy 50pg document of horror or anything lol.

Im not perfect though. Dont claim to be. During said tournament someone brought it to light that you suffer multiple obstacles you hit since TFA ruleset. Literally never heard of that, and being a rather major change i didnt believe it because how would such a thing not be all over the place? Looked it up mid-game, sure it enough it said it in the rules. So chewie took a stress and a focus instead of 2 stress (kanan/kyle heheh)

Yeah, REALLY not a big fan of Kylo. He's some of the sloppiest design we've seen in a while. He makes the matchup a huge deal for one thing -- a swarm might not hurt too bad from him, but Corran is just hosed. There's no way to outplay him, either. You can't get shots against Chirpy with Kylo without taking shots from Chirpy with Kylo; it's a Range 1-3 turret for both the action and the attack. And, most importantly, it points out FFG's apparent inability to understand why some ships do so well -- as with so many other kinds of tech we've seen, aces get stronger, while the already-marginalized, low-agility ships are just hosed.

I mean, look at the B-Wing! Once this card hits, there is absolutely no way to fly the B-Wing competitively. I mean, it's already been pretty well marginalized by tractor tech and aces; but this is the last nail in the coffin. Round one, you slap a Blinded Pilot on a B-Wing. Round two, same thing. Round three, skill-kill it. Barring some pretty bad luck, a quarter of your squad is dead, just like that, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

That's some bull. Pull it together, FFG.

Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe it's too difficult to trigger. But even then, the fact remains: it hurts ships that are already hurting way more than it hurts things that actually need to be reigned in.

Stress, force bump, evades. There is 3 ways to stop kylo ren and there are plenty more

Stress yes, that works, but generally after he has fires at least once

Force bump, if they decide not to run dauntless, which with kylo, they probably will

Evades, well he ships kylo hurts the most don't all have evades or have low agility so even an evade may not help avoid the damage

Connor nets stop it too, but they are not easy to squeeze into most lists without completely changing it

Yeah the card has counters, but when you become forced into hard countering a 3 point card then maybe that card is a bit too powerful

Yup exactly, and the thing is that Rebels and to a lesser extent Scum get hit harder by far. Imps have the ships that can actually evade enemy Kylo shots. A fully tokened up Soontir, Ryad, Inquisitor with Palp support are also a poor target for Kylo since his player will probably not waste his action on dealing such a ship IWSYTDS. If you get a crit through at all it already hurts enough and if he has a TL instead the chances of hitting these ships get bigger.

Getting the crit through on a 1 or 2 agility ship or a 3 agility ship with bad action economy is incredibly easy considering Chiraneau as a platform. Too easy imho. And incredibly powerful.

If you can deal two blinded pilots to something like a 40 point Norra Wexley, Miranda or Poe bfore just killing them, that's just devastating. And highly likely on top of that. And after you did not take all that damage they would have done to your Decimator and escort, the enemy squad just can't expect to win anymore.

So not being able to fire twice with your most powerful ship can be a huge deal. And this affects also generic ships in a very bad way. Not even speaking about the pilot skill 0 card, or the ability to potentially kill 2 hull ships in only as many attacks.

The saddest part is that it also hits ships that wre already barely playable. B-Wings, any of theless played X, Y and K-Wings, and the new ARC. But also the brand new Tie/SF and even the striker will probably be affected. HWKs, and Low agility large ships idem.

I can't really understand the reasoning behind making this card. FFG must be either unaware what it will cause to a lot of builds or they just want to immediately repeat the mistake that Torpscouts were.

Guess ffg wanted more backdraft and atc vader :P

The SF does not work well with palp or even that well with hux, but backdraft and quickdraw rolling abd rerolling enough dice can trigger kylo well

And blinded pilot will protect them in a way their crap defenses simply cannot

I really think it is a mistake in wording and donesn't meant to bypass shields. Waiting for the FAQ.

Gotta hand it to all those people whose sole justification for Kylo not going through shield is just : ''I don't like it, so it probably doesn't work that way''

Just read the Fanatical Devotion Teaser, they clearly explain that Kylo goes through shield, that's just the way he works.
