2016-17 Regionals Data

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

Sorry I didn't get the full standings for the tournament. I think the TO Howard who is on these forums would still have it.

I'll try to post an AAR later with some pictures. It my winning list was similar to my worlds list but with some changes to help against squads. I found that at worlds Mauler and 3 Ties were not enough to stop large bomber wings consistently. I dropped sliver tools at it usually meant spending 30 points and only using it once due to dieing at medium range. I wanted to try the Mauler double move combo using FCT and flight commander to get off the double AOE damage in 1 turn. It worked for 2 of the 3 matches and I think it really helped my clean up the bombers in a turn or 2. Overall it was a well run event, wish we could get more locals out but it was nice to have people drive in from CA and NV.

Would love to hear how you arrange a double-tap with Mauler using this set-up. Looks like you would need to end a turn with Mauler more than 1 away from enemy squadrons (not engaged). Then use the FCT to push him one and do damage, then activate him and move again due to Jumpmaster?

Sounds really difficult to pull off.

In theory it does sound difficult but usually it's not too hard if you are first player and plan ahead. Basically you use obsticles to land Mauler on that are close to where the enemy fighter force will be. You have to plan ahead and place the obsticles across the middle of the board. In most fleet engagements it's pretty obvious where the fighters will move to so you move Mauler onto an asteroid that will give him a chance to move distance 1 and hit multiple enemy fighters. I would activate my GSD with FCT and flight commander first round 2 with a squad command. I'd move the GSD, FCT Mauler in doing the first round of damage then issue the squad command with Flight commander and move in the jumpmaster to make all engaged squads with Mauler heavy. Then move Mauler a 2nd time for more splash damage. Punished big fighter blobs that are predictable on where they will move.

Stockport Regionals fleets added. The UK meta certainly looked different than the US meta to me as I was entering it. We now have 119 fleets in the full dataset after just 3 weeks! Hooray for a growing sample size.

4 Regionals this coming weekend. If you'll be in:

  • Marietta, GA
  • Independence, MO
  • Ottawa, ON
  • Cary, NC

Please grab the fleet lists and order of finish!

Don't forget the Ă˜stersund, SWEDEN regionals :D

And the victory trophy! :D

And now the order of finish is in for Stockport.

Rebel players keep winning, but the Rebel:Imperial ratio is pretty much the same for Top 4, Top 1/2, and overall. So not quite as skewed as the initial Imperial dominance last time around.

the seat at worlds is more important. I need a drinking buddy..... :P

Stockport Regionals had 13 rebels and 13 Imperials.

Interestingly if you give the first player 26 points, the second 25, the third 24 etc. When you add them all up then both factions scored 180. Perfectly balanced overall.

I agree that it was very balanced overall (just look at the top10, 5 Imps 5 Rebs), but what you are saying is mathematically impossible. 1 + ... + 26 = 351 So one of the factions *has* to have an edge, however small :)

Yes I must have missed one out on my calculator. I tried it again and it was 180 to 171 in the Rebels favour.

Still remarkably close

Well I got the lists at least :) (was able to go undefeated and make the cut and final table but Matt took first. The bridesmaid Regional season for me :) )

I'll type them up later. Wow. 32 lists. Good times.

So I guess that means Rebels are still on top and undefeated, pending Missouri and North Carolina regionals. And you went squadronless, right? Totally unexpected after waves 3 and 4.

Cary, NC Regional Data for Top 8. 19 total players, 5 imperial and 14 rebel. I will post the remaining lists as I have time to enter them.

Wait, did Sean have an illegal list?

The ACM should be APT. Put it into the builder wrong. Edited the post accordingly.

Ah ok, i figured it was something like that! Sean is an awesome dude and one of thr best sports I have played.

That's nice of you to say about me Cal. It was nice seeing you guys down in NC.

The Marietta lists have been posted to the Georgia Regional post in the Battle Report forum. There are a few missing but I will attempt to clean it up.

Awesome!

I will work on getting the Georgian and NC data in later today.

Georgia is in. Working on NC soon.

Itobergs, any thoughts on when the rest will be posted?

Any news from Ottawa or Independence?

I might be able to tomorrow night, but if not Thursday morning when I get back from a business trip.
