2016-17 Regionals Data

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

Welcome back to a new Regionals season and another fleet data collection project.

The main question that I am looking at in this data is whether there is a difference in fleet composition between the top tables at a tournament and the whole field. It is useful for settling all kinds of discussions beyond that as well.

Here's the link to the last season: 2016 Regionals Data

This year I've added in collection of Objective use and specific squadrons as well. Currently there is nothing in for fleet archetypes as I want to wait a few weeks and see what patterns start to emerge.

Here's the new link: 2016-17 Regionals Data

A HUGE thanks to everyone that is stepping up to help out with collecting fleet lists around the world. This is a fun project and valuable to the Armada community as a whole. I know that the armada devs find it interesting too. Without the hard work of people volunteering to gather fleet lists, this wouldn't be possible.

Anyways, please comment below with anything you think is interesting or cool. I'll post in this thread as I get the sheet updated.

I think, and call me crazy, that in the current heavy bomber list with minimal anti squadron squadrons that yv666s would do very well.

So. Many. Most Wanted. Not surprising with the number of flotillas around.

I might have to look a bit more in to compositions and Contested outposts. With quite a few swarms, is being tied to the station something you really want to do....? An answer I'd be interested in, or if someone has a bit more time to look at the data.

Yeah, Most Wanted is everywhere!

Fixed some order of finish issues with the Imperial fleets at Fargo.

Also, forum member Baltanok has volunteered to help out and set up some data analysis for the squadrons.

Hoping to get the Chicagoland information in there soon as well.

Yes!!! My FAVORITE thread of the year! THanks to all who make this possible.

I'll get my data into the 2/11 San Diego one for sure!

I'm hoping the new objectives give us a bunch of new fleet options. Most Wanted is so good for most fleets with flotillas is basically an auto include even without squadrons. Have 23+ points to play around with? Take MW and trade easily for a huge win.

Some basic number crunching now complete on the Objectives.

These are Objectives taken with the fleet builds.

I do have which Objective was chosen for each of the 27 games played at the Vancouver Regional. I will display that as well, once I figure out a good way to do it. I'd want to correlate it with whether the first or second player won.

And a little more work with the objectives.

I took the 27 games from the tournament and listed out which Objective was chosen from the 3 available. Unfortunately I neglected to record the 1st player in a few of the matches, which hurts the data set.

The sample size is REALLY small, but it is still interesting to see which objectives are getting chosen. Not sure much can be drawn from the data, but I think it is still worth presenting.

Most interesting was that even though Fire Lanes is the most popular objective taken at the event, absolutely nobody chose it as 1st player.

Added tracking for fleets with Rogues, Flotillas, and >1 Flotilla

You're crazy bro! :-)

Also, what's a yv-666??? /lewl

I think if you have a msu build and your facing some kind of yvaris, admo, 3flot build, maybe you can pick most wanted... 3 of their ships don't fire, and giving yvaris another dice isn't so huge... admo likely kills it's targets with or without extra dice as well... you just don't want to pick it when you have a big ship... but versus hyper space assault and superior positions, your msu might want to pick his most wanted

It'll be interesting to watch that objective data. If Most Wanted keeps being such an overwhelming choice it might be worth changing Flotillas so that they can't be the target of an Objective.

And it's also tough to tell without the new objectives. That's a whole lot of changes coming for this cycle of regionals, if we operate under the assumption that we'll get this stuff shortly.

I run Most Wanted without flotillas. At regionals I took it because trading up a CR90 for an ISD or even just an AFmk2 made it a solid objective for me. Flotillas just make it a more extreme difference.

Honestly, I would like to see how few RED objectives were chosen. Advanced gunnery is a crazy benefit to second just like Most Wanted. Precision Strike is usually coupled with an impressive bomber wing so nobody picks it. Opening Salvo is the only one not overwhelmingly in favor of 2nd and that never makes it into fleet builds.

Preliminary squad findings:

Rebels only take 1 ace (usually Jan) unless they are Rieekan, in which case they take 4 aces on average.

Imps take 1 or 3 aces.

2/3 of fighter wings have 1 Intel, with the remainder split between 0 and 2.

I have the data from our the first weekend of tournaments in the spreadsheet.

So far, there have been no Garm or Ozzel sightings. If I actually got to play in a Regional this season I would definitely be bringing Garm as my admiral. So someone else will need to be his champion for me.

Rebels did well winning all 3, but there are just more players bringing Rebels this time around. I'm sure that will even out.

The sample size is still pretty small, but having full fleet lists for the first 3 tournaments has this project off to a great start.

I'm starting to play with a Garm list this weekend...

... Of course, expecting me to win with it, is going to require a lot of Prayers to lady luck....

Melbourne, Fl added.

Another Rebel win, by a different Rebel admiral.

I also have the new Objectives added in for when they finally get released.

The Liberty is so far the only ship to not make the Top 4.

Still no Ozzel or Madine sightings.

We have one in Sweden on Dec 3rd.

I can report from that one, if you're interested.

No Ozzel? He's my favorite Imp admiral, next after Vader. So sad :(

A double Liberty list in Florida almost won the whole thing, but lost to shrimps.

An Interdictor list has come in top 4?

Or is that only rebel ships?

Yep, in Vancouver

Someone at the Arizona regionals said they were going to report the data about the lists, but I came in second at Arizona and I was running an interdictor list.
