I currently only have Manor of Raves and Lair of the Wyrm.

I'm not a big fan of the Rumor quests, but I have heard that the new small box Expansion actually come with campaigns.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

All small box expansions actually come with a campaign, but it's only a mini-campaign with 4 Quests in a row (3 Act 1, 1 Act 2 I think).

But you can combine Mists of Bilehall with The Chains that rust to get a large campaign. Or you can play them as individual mini-campaigns.

It's worth noting that while Mists and Chains are shorter than full length campaigns, they include significantly more in the way of quest material than a true "mini-campaign" like Lair of the Wyrm, Trollfens, or Manor of Ravens.

Lair of the Wyrm and Trollfens each have 3 quests followed by 1 of 2 possible finales. Manor of Ravens has 3 quests followed by 1 of 3 possible finales. All of these mini-campaigns end up being 4 quests long.

Mists and Chains each have an introduction followed by 3 of 6 (for Mists) or 3 of 7 (for Chains) possible quests, followed by a finale. Each of these "one act" campaigns is 5 quests long.

However, in total each of the small boxes contains (in quests):

Lair: 5

Trollfens: 5

Manor: 6

Mists: 8

Chains: 9

Also, the finales of Mists and Chains are multi-encounter.

I tried to make a "random campaign" out of a pile of Rumor cards from both Manor and Lair, but I found it lacking is smoothness and balance. We played 3 Act 1 Rumors and one Act 2, the Act 2 whipped us. I suspect it was due to lack of exp/ gear. not to mention there were only 2 heroes, who were not using the free simple attack - heal 2 heart addition.

Interesting variation. This could be a nice (mini) campaign and a way to play rumor quests more often. Less thematic though.

Strange that the balance is so much off. I'd suggest you try again with the 2 player bonuses or with 4 player.
