So currently, what do you think the biggest "Paper Tigers" lists are? Meaning ship list which people make out to be a bigger threat then the list actually are.

you get a very fun Paper Hadron Cannon that ends the game in 15 minutes, either way. My best shot so far was to 1 shot 3 ties of a 6-tie crackswarm in the first engagement. The shock and horror made the guy conceded right after.

The best usage I've gotten out of Fenn Rau is to get like one shot with him and then spend the rest of the match running away with him while the rest of my squad burns down whatever is chasing him.

Definitely a lot of dice at range 1 if you can pull it off. Better hope you don't run into a Biggs or a Dash though lol. Thats always been the problem with guys like Talonbane in particular. He's not quite fast enough to close into range 1 except in a joust and his ability doesn't work against secondary weapons at range 3. At least FFG learned their lesson and gave Fenn Boost. Still a fun list though!

Mindlink or PTL Rau is great, Fearlessness Rau is crazy pills. Is silly to try and get in someone's face, especially when you don't have shields. Rau is an arc dodger, I have had him 1 shot 3 Crack TIE's and clean up a bomber, didn't take any damage all game.

As for paper tigers, I think it's list dependent. Flying Brath/Vessery TIE/d's, I generally don't have an issue with /x7's. But flying some Rebel lists, /x7's can be a real pain at times.

While I totally love my fangs, they fly great, I agree that a lot of people seem to overrate them in the wrong areas. The Fang is more squishy than a M3A pre buff. I still love them especially with mindlink to get the tokens I need.

I want to agree with you because I've beaten Dengaroo a lot and it holds no fear for me...

But then most of the Dengaroo players I've played were not world's level players - so whilst I know its a list i can beat i also know there's players out there who can outfly me all day in a PS9 Jumpmaster.

I've played and beaten some very good Dengaroo players. It's a list that lives and dies primarily in the matchups - many are very favourable but some are extremely difficult and player skill won't do much to shift the odds in those matches.

The density of the lists that beats Dengaroo was a little low at Worlds. If Dengaroo is Rock then I think a lot of players chose Scissors in order to beat the Paper they expected to be played, only so many took Scissors that there wasn't actually that much Paper around.

Dengaroo struggles so badly against double Palp Defenders but has a pretty good game against Palp Defender & Ace, which many players had picked for it's strong game against Palp Defenders. I think there's a group of players who out-thought the meta this time and turned the meta wheel one time too many.

4 TLTs They really aren't that hard to beat as long as your squad is either Mobile (Interceptors/Large Bases with Boost), Can modify defense dice multiple times (Poe, Rey with Finn, Autothrusters) Has a lot of agility and HP (Defenders, Special Forces TIE, E-Wings) Or the ability to nuke a Y-Wing before it gets to shoot (basically any squad that can put our 12 modified attack dice at a PS higher than 2 and not relying on range 1 bonuses) if you don't have a squad with at least 1 of these things (preferably 2) you probably need to rethink your squad

I think Rey is a paper tiger, or at least when I've flown her. I'm not ready to give up on it yet, but man ... It's a shame about Rey.

With Rey I think you need to adjust your expectations. We're used to Falcons that are about being strong in the endgame - Evade/3PO etc - but weak in the early game when there's a lot of ships and red dice flying about. Rey is the Falcon that is relatively weak in endgame but better in the early game if she can keep the enemy in arc.

She needs a partner who is prepped for endgame and Rey will get them there, rather than a partner that's there to just get the Falcon into endgame so it can clean up.

I broadly agree, though, I think she's an alternative to existing Falcons but not necessarily an upgrade.

Maybe I'm missing the wording of the OP; I do quite often....but come on, I think Rey does great and is very useful in the Falcon, Dengaroo is at the top of the power curve, and Fenn is a dodgy beast akin and almost as dodgy and hit a bit harder Soontir.

In that case I would unpick Dengaroo. It's not a paper Tiger, but it might be a Tiger that turns out to just be a Leopard.

Norra. While she seems like she will live, once Biggs is dead, she crumples like a wet noodle. 5 dice might be nice that one round, but good luck getting it again with full modes.

I would disagree with the Fenn talk. Two different Fenn lists made the cut at charlotte. Seems like it's doing work.
