Looking For A Group In Austin, TX

By hironzz, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey, folks. Glad to see this thread! I'm moving to Georgetown/RR next month and I'm desperately going to need a group. I have a ton of experience in this system and a deep knowledge of SW. Any of these games still accepting players? I'd love to join and don't mind travel.

Me. Just got here. Woot. So much stuff for getting my place sorted. But i am looking for group.

Well Cameron IS a heckuva drive, but if you are willing to make it there are games.

We have a fairly large group that runs several different games on Sundays at the Dragons Lair on Anderson Lane; its a great group and place to meet folks who are into Star Wars and other games.

The Living Campaign meets once a month at the Dragons Lair, next Game is the 25th. IF you have an FB account search for "Star Wars; Fires Across the Galaxy" and ask to join.

Also come by the Dragons Lair on any Sunday and ask for the Heroes of Rokugan / Star Wars Group, there's always someone there from around noonish on.

This weekend is the Legend of the Five Rings Living Campaign, but you can stop by and say hello and we can talk to you about the SW Living Game and Chargen etc...

I will be there both weekends and I may or may not have room in the game I'm starting up in the evenings there, so def stop by and say Hello!

fyi you can ask for "Gand" and anyone there will know its me as I play the only Gand character (so far) in the living Campaign...8)

It is a nit of a drive. But ibam used to the 405 which takes an hour and a half to go 20 miles. So an hour and a half to go there driving 75...yeah way better.

Erm, we're just getting a headcount for a group. I think you were reading posts from 5 months ago...

I find more communication is better than less. As things were not made clear other than saying they play sundays...

Once we've established when and where we'll meet up, I imagine AustinKatan will announce. Sorry for the confusion. Still gathering.

If any of you guys are interested in joining the living campaign feel free to PM me if you haven't already checked out/joined the FB group. I'm one of the head admins of the campaign and can answer most all questions you may have if you are interested in joining. We'll gladly take more players, and we have an end of arc event at Chupacabra-con which is an austin local table top gaming convention. So if you guys are interested at all feel free to message me or join the FB group :)

Eh sorry for any confusion, I did specify we meet at the Dragons Lair, not Mothership.

And MamoruK is one of the primary GM's.

There are 2 groups. I looked over the chargen stuff for the living game and the force move rules you have are a deal killer. So I am looking at the other group. I want to stick closer to RAW.

This is something that I have been wrestling with since the campaign started because Move is just too powerful an ability to be used RAW, and I think I finally actually came to a compromise on it without requiring more force powers to make work.

Move is no where near as powerful as people think. To do the really crazy stuff you need like 4 force rating and that is like 500 xp alone. Then you need 100 xp in move. Then you need skill in discipline. Move is no where near as scary as people think.

Daeglan is right, MamoruK.

Think about it, just to hit a single NPC, you'll need to at least two force pips to activate. One for the base power and one for strength. Against the targets resilience or athletics as the difficulty because you need to represent them resisting the power. And if it's a minion group of NPCs, you'll need the magnitude upgrade to throw more then one at a time.

So that's 40 XP just to get that. Plus however much XP to increase your force rating so you can consistently get the pips needed to activate the power, and the XP to increase your discipline to where you'll can reliably hit, we'll call that between 25 and 45.

Versus someone getting an auto-fire gun like the DLS-12 from Keeping the Peace for a lot less effort.

Both have their give an take. The shooter doesn't have to spend as much XP but has to spend credits. The shooter doesn't have to use destiny points or take strain if dark side pips are rolled because they don't have to use that mechanic. The Force User can take the Force with them anywhere but the shooter can't take their gun into a nice restaurant. Both might attract law enforcement attention but the attention the shooter attracts is less Inquisitive.

Now, back to the original topic, my head count has Daeglan and Dope. Now I have myself plus one, maybe two. But none of us are looking to GM.

I used to think Move was only so-so as well until someone pointed something out; you're not limited to triggering each level just once...

Example; say you have Strength 2 for Silhouette up to 2, you roll 2 Force Die get 3 usable pips...you put 1 you can get up to Sil 2, put in 2 you get Sil 4, 3 you get 6...

So when you DO get to 4 Force Die, Max out Strength, add in some Range and Magnitude and the Damage boost you could, with a decent roll, grab 2 capitol Ships and ram them into each other...granted you might have to be in the same range band but...it IS possible.

Side Note; I am starting my own Home Campaign that will run on alternating Sunday evenings, still like to have 1-2 more players. Its primarily an EoE campaign (NO Force users allowed) set 50+ years after TFA in a Galaxy where the citizen finally decided they'd had enough of the repeated Failures and Corruption of the Senate and Empire as well as the Jedi and Sith orders. So no centralized government, Force-users are feared and reviled. Basically its designed to be a Serenity/Firefly-esque game mixed with Elements of Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star; characters constantly down on their luck, luck for a big payday, trying to stay flying etc...if you're interested let me know.

I'm up in Round Rock and looking for a group.

Gm or player?

Anyone in San Antonio looking for players?

Player. New to RPGs but well-versed in SW lore.

There some folks in SA looking to join the Fires Across the Galaxy Living Game, you might want to hit the group up on FB and get ahold of them, if you haven't already.

At the least it gets you in touch with other players in your area...8)
