Dash and Norra

Do you think it is worth it to lose engine upgrade on Dash in exchange for Anti pursuit lasers and a rigged cargo chute? Since Kanan is there to help with stress it opens the dial to a point where I'm not sure EU is necessary.

Thoughts?

Without Engine the PTL only affords one repositioning action you could focus TL each round if you wanted. I like APL and chute, when I did it I switched the crew to Rey. She ups the action economy by focusing early on and storing like a discount Moldy Crow. Don't forget if you pull a focus off and don't use it, it can go back on. This action economy frees up the PTL and you can go to Lone Wolf, aiding dice modification on both offense and defense. If I'm not mistaken that is 2 free points for other upgrades. Or an initiative bid.

Interesting thought with Rey. I considered her but I feel that Kanan is better.

My main desire for Kanan is not to be locked to the limited green moves. The outrider lives by its mobility which is the main reason for having EU there to begin with.

I used to play a standard super-dash build carrying Kyle and really used to hate losing the white moves. The number of times I wanted to 4-straight over some obstacles but could not because I needed to clear stress was annoying.

My thinking is that having those white moves, including the sharp turns and straight 4, removes the need for boost in order to stay hyper mobile. This leaves my actions for dice modification.

How I envision the build working is to have Dash fly ahead of Norra disrupting formations and playing in asteroid fields. Norra slow rolls in.

My opponent chases Dash while Norra chases them and preserved her hull for the endgame when I have hopefully taken some of my opponents forces off the board. If my opponent instead goes after Norra, they will have dash to deal throwing fully modified HLC shots hopefully at range 3.

Obstacle placement will be important with this in order to break up swarms.

Plus the thought of dash dropping a debris field in front of a group of ships and then detonating it with Norra warms my heart.

I'm not sure Dash needs PTL without an EU. Rey gives him action economy, and he works well with other skills like Lone Wolf and Trick Shot.

If you're going with the illicit smuggler build, I like giving him cluster missiles, guidance chips, and glitterstim.
