Lightened Frame and TIE Swarms

If Lightened Frame adds a green die when you're attacked by more reds than your greens, and if it's a zero point upgrade, does this give the traditional TIE swarm the slight buff it needs (or that I believe it needs)?

It would only kick in against 4-red attacks: Dengar at range 1, HLC's like Dash, and I guess Rey when Finn adds a blank. It would also help against 4-dice ordnance attacks. Or in other words, it would help against the kinds of attacks to which a TIE is most susceptible to being one-shot.

I know the discussion has mainly been on this card aiding the 2-agility TIE's like Bombers and of course Strikers. But is there a little something here for ln's and FO's?

I know this is speculative and conditional, but does it sound truthy?

If it costs 0pts and works on ships with native 3green dice, it never a bad thing to bring it. Its not pushing anything away in the modification slot for ordinary ties. I think I would still prefere g chip on my bombers.

Using it on 3 agility ships is not being discussed because popular opinion is that the last line of the card is something along the lines of "You may not equip this card if your agility value is above 2".

If it is a free card that can be used on 3 agility ships then I'd expect it to be auto-include on TIE Fighters, show up on Defenders frequently, and even see some use on Interceptors. Carnor Jax in particular could probably benefit from the extra protection at range one while being able to come in at 31 points.

Hope it's unusable by Tie/lns as I don't fancy buying 7 strikers to make my swarm competitive.

I beg to differ on point #2. I think the traditional 7 or 8 TIE swarm is due for a small buff. The relative lack of swarms in Worlds is a testament to their fallen status. Yes, swarms are hard to fly through a multi-day tournament, but we've usually seen some players with great mental fortitude push the swarms into the top 32.

Crack swarms are fun and I enjoy them, but they're capped at 6 ships. I'd like to see the 7 or 8 ship swarm have a chance.

FFG usually releases the previews in the same order that they revealed the ships, and if that holds then we're due for the QuadJumper preview, then U-Wing, and only then the TIE Striker article.

I really want to see that new EPT and the new mod, but I think we're in for a wait.

I doubt a mod that good is going to be 0 points.

i want this for my 1 dice ARC and Y-Wings

i'd be surprised if it allows it on 3agi ships.
If it is roll 1 extra agi if theres more reds than you have green though, i sincerely doubt thats a 0pt mod. Any 3die attack getting range 1 for a 4th die also gives you a 4th green on 3agi ships, that would make it better than ATs both for the price and the almost always +1 green.

Sadly, the one thing we can see fairly clearly is that it's TIE only.

I would also be surprised if it's allowed for 3-dice ships. Because unless there's a real kicker somewhere, we do not need TIE/x7 defenders getting a cheap extra green dice when shot at by Homing Missiles and other 4-dice attacks.

I suspect it might stop you modifying your defence dice with focus tokens. That would mean it's still nice for the Striker (Evade action) and Bombers/Punishers (Want to either TL or spend defensively anyway, or tend not to have it in the case of Buddies) but godawful for anything with more than 2 dice.

I'm holding out hope for it to fit on the Tie/SF, but obviously not if it's a title. My Tomax build will love it though.

Forgot bout the bottom of the card, which is "You cannot.... your d...." - leads me to believe its unmodded defense.

Which would really, really suck if you cant spend an evade token either, since the ship HAS an evade action.

I surely hope so. I really want to make Punishers work because a lapse of judgment led to me buying three of them. I've tried flying the generic Punishers and enjoy slapping LRS and Homing Missiles on them. If this is a modification, you lose the LRS option but maybe that extra green die is worth it... You can switch to FCS and set up for the Homing Missiles after a k-turn. I do wish Lightened Frame were a title, since then I could keep either LRS or Chimps.

You're right, they should have set things up to divide the attention of the X-Wing community between worlds and product that's not on sale yet.

This upgrade makes me wish Autothrusters originally let you add a green dice for being out of arc or range 3. Then there would be more of an RNG component to it, especially considering AT costs only 2 pts!
