"Stress Mule"

By Showtimebrad, in X-Wing

Hey Friends,

I'm a rebel player for the most part (I also love my imperial) and hear a lot about "Stress Hogs" and "Stress Mules" I know it's normally on a y-wing or now ARC-170 but am unsure about exactly what it is. I know it's R3-A2 but is there anything else you put on to make it a stress mule?

Thanks!

the "Stressmule" is Bray len Stramm (Aka "Failin Braylen" aka "Successful Stramm")

r3-a2 and gunner

VTs for taste (honestly, they're incredibly clutch and I think the ARC in general is far weaker without them. Even with Braylen potentially double stressing himself, his ability can free him up for a game winning b-roll and, regardless, you'll probably use it a lot to set up better approaches)

you could do Tactician, but if you're rolling Tactician I believe you're better off paying the one point to get Thane. Thane's ability doesn't work great with gunner due to r3-a2 potentially double stressing himself (disallowing any actions, even free ones)

but stress Thane isn't the stressmule. stress thane is "Strane" :P

Stresshog refers to a Y-wing with TLT, Title, and R3-A2. You stress the enemy on both of your primary and turret shots.

Stresshog is Braylen with R3-A2 and Gunner, who will double stress if he misses the first shot. Not as good as the Y-wing when you actually have a shot (because of the chance to hit on the first shot, meaning you only single stress), but you are FAR more likely to actually get those shots.

Oh, with Braylen, if you're goal is to stress them out - DON'T use the 3rd die on the first attack. You don't have to if you don't want to, you want to trigger gunner to stress them again.

This works well unless you're facing a K wing that only gets 1 green die. My opponent would consistently roll 2 hits on his first attack, always hitting me for 1 and not getting the opportunity for the 2nd attack. He would have been better off just throwing all 3 dice at me the 1st attack. It took him too long to get any of my ships off the board, and once I got my K wings in position to drop bombs, his ships fell quickly.

Then you run it with Shara Bey, M9-G8 and Weapons engineer. Lock Braylen's target and Braylen. Then you can give Braylen a re role on both attacks. one to get less hits and one to get more hits.M9-G8 does not consume the TL.

FGD has posted a fantastic Nora/Biggs/Braylen list on the forum before. It hits hard, provides control and has a fair bit of tankyness.
