Munitions Failsafe & bombs?

By Deadfool, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Do these two cards work together?

iirc failsafe specifically mentions "failed to hit" - bombs dont "hit" as that involves an attack. So i wouldnt think so.

No, there is no synergy between them. There are not currently any bomb upgrades which are attacks.

Which is part of the reason Extra Munitions popped up. Failsafe didnt do jack for ordnance and didnt touch bombs at all. Extra Munitions may not protect you from a wiff, but its more likely to do 1 damage with a 4die attack than completely miss.

Cheers

They'll only work together once some kind of "Attack" upgrade can fit in the bomb slot. Nothing that goes in the slot now is an attack.

I think you meant to say Guidance Chips.

No, Extra Munitions.

What does Guidance Chips do for bombs? Or helping you not waste that one time use?

Extra Munitions lets you have 1 bad roll and still have a 2nd shot as well as extra bombs. Failsafe lets you have endless attempts until you actually hit something (again, usually you do 1 damage anyway) and has 0 effect on bombs. Guidance chips solidifies the "i did 1 damage..." problem and does nothing for bombs.

Do these two cards work together?

No, they don't. Munitions Failsafe specifies "When attacking with a secondary weapon..." and bombs are not secondary weapons because they lack the "Attack:" header in their card text. Also, bombs do not make an attack.

Rulebook, page 16

Secondary weapons are upgrades that feature the “Attack:” header in their card text. They provide additional types of attack other than a ship’s primary weapon.
