Regionals This Weekend

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

Yeah. I will second what Snipa said. The Chicago Regionals were well run with plenty of space and clearly marked tables. Every player I met was polite and easy going. Would Regionals again. I will also probably hit up FFGs and Milwaukee's events

Oh I'd also like to add that I think every kind of ship was at the Chicagoland Regional. I saw numerous Interdictors for Imperial fleets. Lots of different squadrons and commanders and such. It's always fun to play such a diverse game. I spoke with the TO (Ron) and he told me he was getting the information to Chris(I think?), so I was off the hook. Shmitty, you should be getting it at some point I'm sure.

Similar situation in Vancouver. Every ship was represented and the only squadron not seen was the YV-666. It was great to see a nice diversity of fleets.

Flotillas were everywhere, but the ships brought with them were really diverse.

Yup, that's me! Ron passed me the lists after we broke last night

Okay, Chicagoland Regionals data insights the first:

(The Imperial Edition)

I've typed up the Imperial player lists from the Regionals yesterday, and will probably do rebels tonight.

Without further delay, I present the following:

9/26 Players were Imperials

5 of the 9 lists had an ISD-II (There were no ISD-1s)

No list had 2 ISDs

7 of the 9 lists had at least one Flotilla; 3 of the 9 had two

Ten total Gozantis: 9 Gozantis, 1 Assault Gozanti. Three Gozantis were Suppressors (2 of those with Slicer Tools)

40% of the Gozantis had Bomber Command Center; No list had two BCCs

30% had repair crews

20% had slicer tools

10% had comms net

6 of the 9 lists had at least one Gladiator; 3 of the 9 had two

80% had Ordnance Experts

40% had APTs

20% had Expanded Hanger Bays

5 of the 9 lists had Rhymer

Number of other bombers travelling with Rhymer in the lists: 0, 2, 3, 4, 4

2 of the 9 lists only had 6x Tie Fighters

1 of the 9 lists had Howlrunner

3 of the 9 lists had Mauler Mithel

The 9 Imperial players represented 11 of the 12 objectives in the game.

Top Contenders by category:

I'm going to grab accurate final positions data today so I can let everyone know how the various fleets placed, the printout of scores I got yesterday was only going into the third round.

Thanks for grabbing the data guys. I'm looking forward to seeing those fleet lists!

It sounds like a really strong opening weekend to the regionals season.

I'm re-building my data analysis formulas for the new spreadsheet this afternoon. If you're really bored feel free to watch. It's almost as exciting as paint drying.

I came in 6th today at the Vancouver Regional. Would've done better, but Tirion trounced me.

Still, got the braces and the sparkly dice, as well as three awesome games.

It was a great game that was very close into round four could've gone either way! Nice to be able to put faces to some names.

Congrats to Nathan who also placed top 4 at worlds!!

Man, Fargo META is strong.

Man, Fargo META is strong.

Many of the players drove from the cities in Minnesota, some from Canada, and I think a few from even father. This was the largest tourney we have had, which was wonderful to see!

Some good lists and looks like a really strong field. Some stuff to think through going into next week.

Its nice to see the players names, but what were they running?

Their names are with the lists in the previous posts

O thanks, your the best!

All Motti all the time for the Imps!

I've got that added to the spreadsheet! Thanks JJ!

My list is completely wrong...not that it matters lol. I had a great time despite my poor showing.

Brendon

ISD2 Motti, Gunnery teams, skilled FO, exp hangar, counter measures, leading shots, relentless, h9

4 gozantis, 1 with repair team, 2 with comm net

Howl, Maul, Deng, 2 x tie adv, 2 x tie, 1 x int

So defense tokens dont work against cluster bombs correct?

So defense tokens dont work against cluster bombs correct?

Yes since its not an attack and so there's no spend defense tokens step.

So defense tokens dont work against cluster bombs correct?

In order to spend defense tokens, there must be an attack, or another trigger that explicitly lets you spend tokens. Things that just do automatic damage (Minefield tokens, Cluster Bombs, Assault Concussion Missiles crit damage, Mauler Mithel, Boba Fett and Soontir Fel are all examples) do not allow you to spend tokens in response, you need an independent trigger.

I'm a little jealous that you guys are having Regionals while the weather is good. Northeastern part of the US gets February... I would love to go, but I won't risk my car if it's snowing for a game.
