why doesn't anybody play the 37 point scout with punishing one titel? it seems like it has insane value for that price.

slap dengar on it and you still have 60(!) pints to buy stuff for. I ran it with recon spec and 5z back when they mattered and the torp boats hadn't been discovered (by me) yet. But you could build what ever escort and now where torp scouts are not that easy to field, id say this guy could be a viable option.

For 2 more points I get manaroos insane ability?

I've been thinking about that ship a LOT in the last couple of days, although in my opinion, it doesn't have Dengar on it. That's because Dengar is on the Party Bus, who functions as a similarly scary, low PS, large ship threat. R4 Agromech is still quite good for getting extra attack modifiers.

Maybe something like this? All really heavy hitters. You do not want to land at R1 of that Contracted Scout, where it's effectively Fenn Rau levels of beating, with the extra R4 Modifier each turn. Not sure about the Scyk, but it does fit the theme of hitting hard. Still thinking on it.
I agree though, there's definitely a place for cheap Scouts with title.

40 points for ps3 with 3 dice and dengar is not horribly impressive to me you can pay 7-10 points more for a fully loaded Asajj and get a sweet pilot ability, ps6, action economy and a mobile arc. You can pay fewer points and get a fully loaded manaroo to boost your remaining points a ton. You can pay 34 points for fully loaded ptl fenn rau who will hit a while lot harder. You can pay 34 points for a slaver bus and actually scare aces with it regardless of their autothrusters.

You're putting 40% of your list into a ps3 ship with dengar when scum has tons of better options for the cost. It's not a horrible option it's just heavily overshadowed by other choices scum has.

Patrol Leader would wish to have the dial of the scout... Plus you get barrel roll and two defense dice. Sure you lose on hull but still, scout is by far better than Patrol Leader.

Conversely, the PL gets 3 crew and bombs. They're reasonably comparable.

The Scout is a way better blocker - but you don't need to pay 12 points to use it as a blocker. The opportunity cost to give it that extra die is HUGE, 12 points is a hell of a lot that you can spend better elsewhere. Indeed, there's a fairly strong argument that 12 points is a little overcosted for anyone except Dengar, who gets to use it twice.

The white S-Loop is fairly amazing, but even without it, I'd kill to have a Decimator with native barrel roll.

If we consider that astromech slot and illicit slot together are worth 1 crew slot, I'm pretty sure I'd take a 2 crew Decimator with barrel roll over that 3rd crew slot. I dream of PS10 RAC with Dauntless and the ability to boost or barrel roll, even if he bumps.

I'm salivating a little bit.

Well, you can do it at PS 8 with Expert Handling. I have actually seen that build once in a local tournament. Needless to say, it sounds much cooler that it actually is. :P

The Patrol Leader is, ignoring point cost, statistically more durable on average. I'd say a more direct comparison, though, is the Resistance Sympathizer. 25 points for a Scout, plus 12 for a 37 point, 3 attack, PS3 turret. Compare to the Outer Rim Smuggler, which has always been regarded as overpriced and with nonsensical statistic revisions. 27 points for 2 dice, PS1. Add eleven points for 3 dice and three more hit points. Still, on average, statistically more durable for one point more, increased Pilot Skill to match the Scout. Then there's the VCX-100, which, at 35 points, again reduced cost, with higher average durability. No turret, but a four dice attack from its front arc.

In short, adding the 12 points drives its efficiency too far down to make it worth it without getting additional perks, such as the flexibility of Manaroo.

Sure, but before factoring in any possible focus tokens, you get an average of 0.75 evade results (or "free health") each time you're attacked, which can gobble up some of that difference over time.

That's even more true if you can limit the number of incoming attacks and you know...add focus tokens into that equation.

That's why I said NATIVE barrel roll! Every time I lament a Firespray not having barrel roll, which it frakin' should , I need people to stop saying the words "Expert Handling".

The difference between PS10 barrel rolling without using your EPT slot and potentially off of Dauntless for a single stress token, and a barrel roll which eats up that valuable EPT and stresses you is like...the difference between Soontir with Elusiveness and Soontir with PtL. Elusiveness on Soontir is kind of a decent trick that kind of does solid work but like...they are NOT the same. Not even close.

True. But then the Patrol Leader is a great place for Vader to stand, and for very few points he really messes with people's estimate of capability.

I played with Attanni P1 Scout during last Polish Nationals. I went 4:2 and missed the Cut by mov.

List was:

Scout + Attanni, P1 title, R4-B11, Dengar

Manaroo + Attanni, Gonk, R5-p8, Feedback Array

Kaato Leeachos + Attanni, Homing Missiles, chips

Socut with Dengar crew, re-roll droid ans 2 Focuses had almost Dengarish dmg output, Manaroo was real endgame pain, and Kaato with 2 large base blocking ships in front unloaded missles quite often (also with 2 Focuses always).

It was fun and quite competitive. I was unlucky with MoV tho - I've lost 0:100 to triple crackshot Defenders leaving all 3 with 1 hull left :(

But this was 8th Wave rooster. Now we got Attanni Asajj with Latts Razzi for 40 pts, so no coming back to P1 Scout :)
