2v2 400 point (200 each) EPIC - list help

By Snake3y3s, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So im playing in a 2V2 epic tournament on saturday and want some help/sugesstions on a rebel list.

ships I have:

1x rebel transport

1x arc 170

1x z95

1x YT2400

1x Y wing

1x HWK-290

2x A-wing

2x E-wing

2x YT1300 (Heroes of the resistance and Millenium falcon pack)

3x Bwing

3x X-wing (T-70)

4x X-wing (T-65)

My team mate only has 4 T65 X-wings but we will be making use of what I have.

So i need to setup 2x 200 point lists that we are going to be playing.

any suggestions?

Some good rules:

  • Multiple 'mid PS' generics are good. Aces are nice in normal games, but in epic games they're less awesome.
  • Having a couple of once-per-turn abilities (like an evade token and palpatine) matter in a 100 point game where you're only taking 2-3 shots, and only 1 shot max if you fly right. In an epic game, where you've got four times the ships on only double the board, seeing soontir fel boresighted by 250-300 points of attackers isn't uncommon. Even Palpatine can only do so much.
  • X-wings are actually really good in epic. They can move fast and deliver a good punch.
  • Don't plan on 'cunning' flanking moves. If you set up on the opposite end of the battlefield, the fight will be over before you can engage. Being on one end of a contiguous formation is more than enough.
  • Remember that you can both set up up to range 2 into the board. Turn 1 shots are the norm, and 'charge up' abilities like Moldy Crow won't have time to be truly effective.
  • Rules which benefit "all friendly ships within" are, naturally, amazing and should be your first choice.

Things I'd suggest:

  1. Taking an Epic Ship helps the game feel...well....epic. The Rebel Transport is nice and cheap, and very useful. I would recommend taking a Combat Retrofit, Bright Hope and maybe Shield Projector, and treat the ship as a combination Epic Biggs/Battering Ram.The whole setup costs less than 50 points but can dramatically change the dynamics of the game. Killing it from the front is night impossible, and getting on the flanks means flying into the teeth of whatever units you set up to escort it.
  2. Your first choice of fighter should probably be the E-wing. You want Etahn A'Baht - in normal games his ability is so-so, in Epic he's essentially giving 200 plus points of your force mangler cannons.
  3. B-wings with Heavy Laser Cannons are nice and simple. 3 of them can lay down massive chunks of damage with no special maneuvers required, and Etahn essentially removes their one major downside
  4. That's ~ 200 points, depending on fire control systems, astromech choices, etc.. I suggest you fill out the other player's allowance with X-wings as they're good general-purpose craft, and maybe a few other heavies.
  1. Biggs with R4-D6 is good - not least because (a) he stops your opponent picking on Etahn or the B-wings, but (b) because Bright Hope can in turn redirect fire off of him.
  2. You can fit in three red squadron pilots and three red veterans with him, in addition to a few other toys to equip them (integrated astromechs and a few elite talents - push the limit/pattern analyser is a good combination).
  3. You could swap two red veterans and their kit for Rey & Finn. The Heroes falcon is one hell of a heavy-duty jouster, especially with either Luke Skywalker or Chewbacca in the back seat.

So took your suggestions into account, and had alot of fun. in our first match we played against a rebel list that had no epic ship in it. and won that round.

Then second match we went up against a imperial list with 2 raiders in it. the raiders basically destroyed a good portion of our fleet in the first round of firing. Not much you can do to avoid that.

This is exactly why normal epic tournaments share the 5 points epic allowance over both players - i.e. you can never have two corvette-class warships on the same team.

Just one was enough to destroy a good chunk of our fleet. the fact that it can spend energy to attack 3 times is quite hectic.
