Three defenders!

Sounds super juicy.how do you like to cook them?

3 built up p.s. 1 ?

3 named but lean?

Something in the middle?

I'm trying to work vessery,ryad,stele all together. My thought is that way it's not a tragedy no matter which one falls first. I can also get them all to p.s. 7 to provide freedom of who moves first.

I like the list that several people had a lot of success with at worlds. Vessery, Ryad, Glaive with x7 and crackshot.

I found Ryad and 2 Glaives (all PS 7) to be too light on gimmicks.

Even though effective, got a little boring and felt like it was missing something.

I liked the combo. I had two wins with it, one one against a guy I had never been able to beat.

This was my build. It may be light on gimmicks, but I like squads with the same pilot skill.

I like the PTL ryad, juke vess and PS1 naked.

You get the effecinecy of ryad and vess combo and have a really tough blocker who can hit almost as hard. Triple crackshots damage and shenanigans just burns out too quick compared to PTL and juke for the entire game.

Really surprised how the 'net' sees this as weaker versus 2 defenders and palp.

I run ptl ryad and juke vessery, both with mk2 engine and a delta with just x7

Yah, I prefer the delta version. I've had games won by my delta after the other 2 die

I usually run named but three deltas with x7 and SD is **** near immortal flown right.

If flown well, this messes up apposing squads badly (I'm my humble attempts):

To boring for me and very predictive/easy to counter.

I also find that Triple X7s are only really good versus people that have never faced them before.

To me they are the squarest of hammers in an otherwise interesting toolbox. ;)

I would probably run this list.

That is 99 points so you can either save the 1 point for a Bid against players who use the full 100 points or slap another Mk2 Engine on Vess or the Delta. Vessery has 2 spotters, both of whom have lower PS meaning they can spend their target locks if they need during their shooting as Vess will already have taken the benefit.

Although to be honest, I would probably rather run Omega Leader with SD in place of the Delta just for variety. ;)

This one is hard to kill, good and blocking, and has sufficient shenanigans with Ryad:

Homing missiles are a good alpha strike vs /x7 Defenders as their free Evades are useless.

Regen is pretty good as /x7 Defenders are reliable rather than fearsome in terms of their damage output. Anything that can negate damage reasonably stands a chance of wearing them down.

Turrets (especially TLTs) are good as they like fast moves so something that can catch them out of arc is important.

Pilots or upgrades that can mess with their tokens are good like Wes Janson, HoCo, Sensor Jammer, Black One, even Juke.

Ion is great as it robs them of their free evade.

Stress is not so effective as they can still K-Turn and can usually manage without a Focus for a turn or 2 until they can pull a green.

Anything that reduces their agility is good as it also reduces the value of their Focus token for defense so Zuckass and Tail Gunner are worth a look.

High PS repositioning moves are great as the most favoured pilots are PS5-6 (or 8 if you take VI for Vess).

Based on the above, here are some ships I think would do particularly well against /x7 Defenders while also being competitive in the wider meta.

The above list is not comprehensive, nor are the builds definitive as you can tinker to your heart's content but it gives an idea of what should do well.

I like Vessery and Glaive with x7 and Adaptability combined with a Juke z7 Maarek.

You get 3 PS7 pilots with loads of survivability and you can fire with Maarek last to get more use out of Juke.

Also, bring PS7 puts you above most other Defender lists.

could just be me, but i find just plain x7 defenders to be oddly lack luster. Without some sort of offensive EPT on there they always seem to be meh to me. Be it LW, Juke, PTL, or even Outmaneuver lol

In some ways they are a like a cheap Poe build. Pretty resilient and quite nippy but struggling to lay down the damage with just a single Focus flip because he needs to save the token to feed his droid.

I've actually found exactly the opposite in defender vs defender matches. I've won with 3 x7 defenders against 2 + palp becaues I can kill the shuttle before they can kill a defender usually. Then it's 3 on 2. To be fair, I haven't flown against a version with juke on both defenders, which would m ake a difference (easier to get a hit through potentially)

Yah, the double juke sounds nice. I've been debating trying out maarek and ryad both with predator alongside a palpshuttle (or delta I guess).

Funny, I'm over here hoping for an x7 style fix (-points and evade on 1- and 2- speed maneuvers instead of 3-5) for the StarViper. I'd also accept a torpedo slot upgrade that reduces the cost by 4 points.

Xwings would be way over the top if they could get free evades everyturn as well as regenerate shields.
