Rey + Kanan + Kyle + MF Title + Burnout Slam = is this possible?

By Cpt Barbarossa, in X-Wing

Hi all,

I'm trying to get my head around the mechanics and legality of this combo, not sure if there's anything stopping me from doing this but wanna run it past the hive mind first:

- Rey does a 3 bank right

- Decides to flip 180 with the title
- Receives stress, which Kanan removes and Rey therefore gains a focus with Kyle

- Rey is therefore able to perform an action
- Burnout Slam = another 3 bank right

Here is where i'm unsure

- Rey does another 180 with the title (?) and receives stress.

All in all, Rey has essentially done a 2 hard left + 180 turn, WITH a focus...something that no other ship can perform unless they have some sort of "lightning reflexes" combo.

Seems like a neat trick, but have I missed something?

It should work

I can't find anything that would stop you from doing this. On the flip side, it is a one-time combo that requires you to take Kyle Katarn (well if you want the focus at least) instead of Finn, who is arguably a better choice, and run Burnout slam.

It can of course be a neat party trick indeed.

Looks ok to me

But why Kyle?

Take Leebo and advanced SLAM modification to increase the troll factor

hum... that should work but, if you do a 3 s-loop, followed by another 3 s-loop, 1 of 2 things happen:
either you end on the place you started, and for that i'd rather have inertial dampener than burnout slam because I can shoot after inertial dampeners and I can't shoot after a slam or, you end in a place the place where the first 3-sloop would get you if you had made it to the opposite, side in the first place

It's a matter of geometry. I see no point on this shenanigans.

That is why Kanaan is listed as once per round, so you don't get to do that twice in a single round.

Technically no, i end up 90 degrees from where i was, facing inwards.

Imagine on a clock face : you start at 6 o'clock, go up to 2 o'clock (turn around) go to 9 o'clock (turn around) and end up at 9 o'clock facing centre.

Still I would never change engine upgrade for SLAM

Why wouldn't you just go straight to the 9 position in the first place?

Also, you still get a weapons disabled token after a slam, do you not? Though it works mechanically, I don't see the point. How many games would it take for that to be just the right manuever you need to gain a significant advantage. Just S-Loop and blast something, imo.

Because you would be facing outwards, whereas in this case you end up facing the center of the "clock" face.

Yeah i know it's a bit pointless...it was more a "can it be done?" moment in my mind more than anything else! :)

Yes, but why?

EU is better than slam, Finn is better than Kyle.

Yes, but you don't get to shoot, so your opponent gets a whole round to figure out how to counter your next move. It's also really easy to block.

Whilst I like this combo, this is not as impressive/useless as:

Talonbane - Lightning reflexes.

Perform a K turn - use lightning reflexes to turn back around again - 360 no scope finish for the win.

Thanks.

Talonbane doesn't have a white or green k-turn, so you can't proc lightning reflexes off it.

The second one would leave you with stress, but there is no limit on the title, so it totally works.

Can be done on a TIE Defender though.

SLAM on anything that isnt a Kwing is just a GTFO maneuver.

The 3speed into 3sloop SLAM was something i thought of right off the bat for hotrHan. If he gets in a pickle because of his position, he just completely vacates the area. A large base moving 3 into another 3 basically just moved about 9 distance. IF anything still has a shot on him after that, hes range3. The sloop lets him reengage next round as if nothing happened.

Could also just do a 4k if you didnt need a turn to get more distance. 4fwd into 4K is most of the board lol.

If someone seriously puts Adv SLAM on any illicit SLAM ship...what the hell are you doing? 2pts for a literal one time bonus thats not even that amazing. The free action is suppose to be for bombs on the kwing, since you cant fire what good does a focus do you on a 1agi ship lol.

TIE Shuttle with Fleet Officer and System Officer.

Vess with Lightning Reflexes and X7

Vess can have a focus, evade, target lock AND perform a 360 spin for the win.

:)

Use Tomax Bren with System and Lightning. He can flip on a bank and still hand out a lock multiple times!
