Jaw dropping paint jobs
Think of the poor Shadowcaster
I think the SC is probably the best looking ship in the game.
...but to be fair, I grew up watching a lot of Star Trek.
Why do people say this... It's obviously not a Star Trek ship. Due to the way warp fields are generated all ships in Star Trek have an empty area between the nacelles where the warp field is generated. This ship the warp field would be generated right in the middle of it tearing the ship apart.... So obviously not a Star Trek ship...
The warp fields are shown encompassing the whole ship.
There were rules laid down on Nacelle placement by Gene Roddenberry
1) They must be in pairs
2) They must be a clear line to them from the front.
3) There must be clear line of sight between the pairs of nacelles as the area between them is where the warp field is primarily generated.
Some of the later ships break the rules a bit, there are some odd numbered nacelles, the Defiant has a very tight clearance on Line of Sight between the Nacelles. But in general the rules are kept to across the board in Star Trek. You can see it really clearly on almost all federation ships, and the Warbird is a prime example of the principles.
I believe it's also the reason why Voyager's nacelles have to tilt pre-warp. Also, I could see the triple sets working if you push the middle nacelle back behind the main pair's line.

Yep totally... at sub light speed they are in line with the hull, but they drop under the hull when they go to warp speed.
My only complaint about the shadow caster is it is too darn big.
God **** these are gorgeous
Im glad they showed up a lot at worlds so theyre as viable as they are awesome (though im still leery about their offense v my green dice luck)
5th worse looking in my opinion was because it wasn't weathered. Star Wars is a used universe. Not shinny and new.

I think that is a problem with the fact they use washes to weather, it works great with greebling but less well with large panels. It's obvious they made an attempt at weathering, with the breakup / chipping on the coloured areas etc. but without the wash going into the recesses it didn't work as well as with the smaller ships. Something like an army painter dip would probably fix a lot of the issue.

The stock paint job on this and the ghost make both ships lackluster to me. They look too much like the cartoon and not gritty enough compared to most of the other ships.
Your paint job looks amazing. Always a fan of your work.
Great paint job. I still hate the model. It's my least favourite looking Scum ship
I really wish it had had a standard movable cannon to represent active arc.
Why do people hate the way the flying pancake looks? When i first got my shadowcaster, my initial reaction was "this is the nicest looking scum ship i've seen in this game"
I like the Shadowcaster, but that was an easy feat to acquire.
Scum has the ugliest ships evarrr...
Their only saving grace are the Shadowcaster, the Protectorate, and Starviper.
The Shadowcaster looks like a Y-wing built around a ring rather than a T-shape. I could definitely see it as a Koensayr ship.
It's only a model.
Made even more beautiful by these **** paint jobs!
How to make a Star Wars ship, easy way. Start your Spore game and buy the Star Wars Parts DLC.
- Take the Millennium Falcon-style chasis. Place it so that it faces backwards.
- Between the two frontal (now facing back) protruding cargo clamps of the Falcon, place a B-Wing engine block facing backwards.
- Attach two Y-Wing engine pods to the sides.
- At the end of each of the Y-Wing engine pods, place an X-Wing engine nacelle.
- Copy the cockpit of the Havoc and place it in front.
- Make use of the Scale tool at random, keeping symmetry (don't sweat, Spore will keep symmetry for you).
- Take the Brush tool and draw some simple broad shapes. Any color will do. (Don't worry. Spore will keep symmetry for you)
Look what you just created!

Now go and cash in the pay check LFL just sent you.

I thought the answer was change the shape of the TIE panels, or add a couple of extra bomb pods...

Oh, well. You see... Before there was the Imperial Parts DLC only available. But now you have much more to choose from. ![]()

Agreed on all points. The paint jobs on the Ghost and Shadowcaster make them look much less awesome than they are. They don't fit in with the rest of the ships from the SWU because of the way they are painted. I think the pics in this thread illustrate that pretty well for the SC at least. Fantastic work!
