It was x wing night at my local store last night. I got there a little early as I normally do and as normal I got to talk to the store owner for a little while before gaming. We were talking about the end of year fun thing he does. Last year it was a raider (Santa's sleigh) being "pulled" by a lot of ships (reindeer). Rodolph was Fel. Everyone got 40pts to spend on a single ship and we all had to work together (this lasted about 5sec) to kill the empire, depending on which reindeer you killed you got a prize (left over alt art/tokens from the year).

This year he wants to do something close to this but with a restriction.... You still get your 40pts (talk of 35 maybe instead) but you can only use upgrades that are in you ships box.

Seeing as you can only use rebel and scum this ounded very interesting to me.

So what do you guys and gals think?

ARC-170 or K-wing sound good for rebels and they are pretty self contained abit expensive pts wise, as for scum the protectorate (especially fen rau) is very self contained despite having few cards and from my experience is a very good interceptor killer

i'd say if you have the card restriction then you have to have a higher pts limit

personally i'd like to have santa be a rebel CR90, in which case the TIE phantom seems like a good choice

I honestly thought that more ships couldn't hit 35 just in box.

He's thinking it may have to come down to 30 now anyway

Just because you misread doesn't mean it was a bad idea. If imps were open to us I wouldn't even bat an eyelid, OL is possibly the best single ship box only pilot you could get.

That would get ugly pretty quick. Constant OL on OL matches :/

Oh plenty of ships can hit 35 in their box. Problem is a ton of them come with cards THAT ship doesnt want lol. Or, its missing a card to be truely powerful.

TAPs for instance dont come with PTL or Autos. They are terribad without one of those lol.
