2016 Green Store Championship Rulers

By IceQube MkII, in Star Wars: Armada

Guys,

Are the green ones bigger than the cardboard ones that come in the game?

Please check the whole length and the Range 1 distances?

Moving forward, I guess it's cool if both sides use the same ruler?

Its in the tournament Rules that its not only okay, its enforceable.

So, y'know, go to town.

Its also in the rules that it really shouldn't make a difference, because even cardboard rulers aren't the same length due to punching and stuff...

My two Green Rulers have been snapped in half, glued back together, and then even glued back-to-back to make a single thick double-sided ruler.....

We can both use our own, or you can request that we use either yours or mine. I don't care. The rules say I'm not allowed to care :D

Mine are the same size. I've seen (and purchased) some off brand rulers that while they look cool, were either short of slightly off on the range bands. I've had the "you're not actually going to use that" conversation in competitive play a couple of times now, knowing full well I'm helping the other guy on the opposite side of the table.

Also, if something was agreed to be in whatever range previously, I keep with that standard (e.g., talk with your opponent).

Moodswing had the brilliant idea to superglue the dang things together. Works like a charm. I don't know about you guys, but Murphy's Law dictated that each time I picked up the separate green rulers I'd choose the wrong one. I stopped using them at all until I glued them.

Mine are almost exactly like the cardboard one with the exception of frayed corners.

Both Applied Perspective and Recreator Studios range rulers were bang on. I just bring the crappy green one with me in case anyone complains then I show them that they match up.

I forget if mine are shorter, longer or same size. I think they're they same.

At any rate, other than the two (range and distance) I glued back to back like Dras did. I love it.

I also cut a number of others ones down to relevant sizes (range 1, 3 short, medium). That also includes one for 4-speed squadrons (welcome to the Empire), where I can put a squadron on one side, and then move it exactly 4 by placing it on the other side.

Me? I sold mine for $50 (along with the coin). And now I'm going to 3 or 4 different regionals to get a shot at getting the new and improved ones.

But I don't mind if my opponent uses them. I just do what IceQube suggested and determine ranges after moving ships/squadrons so that we can help mitigate any nudging or bumping of pieces later. I'll also check questionable arcs immediately after a move. Saves headache and confusion later for both parties, especially when planning ahead. I think it's the most sportsmanlike thing to do.

So some regionals range rulers are larger than the ones that came in the box? How did that happen?

every green regionals ruler I've seen has been the same size as the other green regional rulers...

Its the Box Rulers that vary. Even with Humidity.....

My green Regional ones are WAY longer then then the card board ones. And Range 1 is longer on the Green one by at least (maybe more) the thickness of the line that separates the ranges.

Maybe it's like an upgrade they were planning on introducing as part of the campaign system. "Veteran Commander: because this player won a store championship (or payed good money on ebay), he or she may have range on your ships even when yours don't have range on theirs"

Don't know. Once I had the green, I cut the 1 out of one cardboard ruler, then cut the 1-2 out of the other.

If I recall, the band on the cardboard ruler counts for the distance below it.

Page 9 of RR:

"The lines on the ruler that divide two adjacent bands always count as part of the band closest to the bottom of the ruler."

So in reality, if your only difference is that band, then they should be pretty identical.
