Behaviour as audience

By IG88E, in X-Wing

I'm referring to any spectator observation of rules-breaking. It's perfect okay for a fan to observe, "Both feet weren't on the ground," and for players, coaches, and referees to hear it and take action -- or not -- based on it. I'm making no statement about whether it's good, or bad, or valid, or anything ... I'm simply observing that it happens.

In other words, there's no spectator-gag rule in sports, so it's pretty perplexing that your side of the argument keeps bringing it up, as if they aren't aware of that. It's ... well, it's a little derpy.

Please tell me this thread has been an elaborate troll... your arguments have frankly been embarrassing. You are actually trying to argue that spectators at a football game, and spectators of an xwing match have the same level of influence on a game.

Before you make up some ridiculous reason why that makes sense, let me make one HUGE difference abundantly clear. In football, if there is a review of a call the clock is paused. This is not true in xwing an argument over rules costs time. Time is extremely valuable in xwing and people WILL exploit spectators being able to ignite rules debates to their advantage in that regard alone.

There is a rules test prerequisite to play in major tournaments. Random spectator isn't necessarily qualified to be a judge.

I'm sorry, normally I'm with you on many a thing, but what? There is no such thing as a rules test in this game. There is a rule in the tournament guidelines to say you should know the rules, but I'm going to have to say not everyone reads the rules, but rather were taught from someone.

It would be awesome to have everyone at TO level rule quality because some of the things I've had to point out to opponents in the middle of a regional + game is kinda baffling. But I also know not everyone has a sharp memory or is as committed to rule retention. Some people will actually expect their opponent to know the rules so that they don't over step something. I know this for a fact. Mostly backed up by at least two instances at worlds just this weekend.

I mistyped that. Sorry.
