We lived with 8 years of Bush, and we lived with 8 years of Obama. It's not the end of the world. Some of his ideas actually work, and alot of his more radical ideas will never be passed. He isn't exactly popular with the GOP insiders.

Most wargamers can enjoy playing Leibstandarte AH troops, Japanese Army in China or NKVD troops. So I think we can play 3 factions with no remorse.
And if you are really thinking into starti g playing as a Rebel, your game skill will improve.
Play 3 factions. Play Epic. Play with ground AAA or against Space Monsters. And you will improve and have fun.
Last year we played a scenario based in three players with diferent factions cooperating to destroy a Huge Monster (tyranid assault pod). We named "her" as one of our beloved politicians in Spain... Sorayita.
Great fun blasting her. And the survivors then started to fight till one remained...

He's gonna have a tough time beating Kanye 2020. The American people tend to believe everything our actors, and pop stars say. 
Palpatine led the Republic during the Clone Wars and saw it victorious, and even made it into a stronger Empire without the dangerous Jedi around. Could any other Supreme Chancellor have done that? Lets face it Chancellor Valorum wasn't up to the task.

I'm speaking from experience with the Chaos Marine base after Thorpe neutered us essentially. I'm stating you can put some originality and character by painting and writing your squadron.
Nothing about playing non-standard improves your ability to play standard rules, and playing other factions isn't necessary past understanding. So leave the pretentiousness somewhere else.
