Vote: most epic lore fails by FFG

By xanderf, in X-Wing

Tycho also flew a unarmed Z-95, an unarmed Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, Tie Fighter, among numerous other ships, are you saying it doesn't make sense for him to fly in those?

Stele flew basically everything Imperial.

Not at all. I'm comparing himand Corran. Corran never flew an e-wing that I recall in the legends EU. Certainly not on any regular basis. Tycho was actually an a-wing pilot.

1. The HWK 290 ... from one of the most maneuverable ships in the galaxy to one of the least.

This. Plus, you have the debate on its size.

not really if you watch the cut scenes from the game it's obvious that the size is right, they made a mistake in one of the old RPGs that kept getting propagated.

Exceptional maneuverability and no K-turn! heck even Punishers can do that!

I don't mind the 1 attack dice, just fix the dials .

If FFG had done more with Black Sun Vigos... the way they are doing now with newer SCUM Pilots the Viper would prolly be fine.

SCUM%2BBSA%2BVIPER%2BVIGO.PNG:wub:

Instead we got SCUM%2BBS%2BSHIZZ%2BTLM.PNG and SCUM%2BBS%2BGURRI%2BBAB.PNG and some MEH junk filler.

All of these rascals (and more) could of done cool stuff and had more options for upgrades: SCUM%2BBS%2BSAVEN.png SCUM%2BBSV%2B1.PNG SCUM%2BBSV%2B2.PNG... they do of course here at Boss Central.

Stopped waiting on FFG... you can play how FFG says or you can play how STAR WARS says.

Does Palpatine being so fat he needs two seats count?

No body shaming here now - he's just big-boned ;)

TBH watching the videos I wouldn't say it's A-Wing level... I would say better than a Y-Wing though... so yeah...

But even that cross section is problematic when you compare it to other ship models and to other uses of the HWK, like this page from a recent Star Wars Comic book:

http://www.mdcu-comics.fr/upload/news/news_illustre_1457682751_968.jpg

You can clearly see more room than the cross section allows for. So, unless that is actually a HWK 270 (see first sentence of "Exceptional Maneuverability" blurb), and not a 290, there is more disparity in recorded dimensions. So, unless we're talking about three different types of HWKs, the debate over the HWK 290's physical size deepens.

Now, personally, I agree that the HWK at the very least approximately well sized for X-Wing, based on Dark Forces 2 cutscenes. But, also by those cutscenes and other data I mentioned above, I think the cross section is complete malarkey. Now, if the could separate the three different HWK sizes into the three HWK model numbers, I'd be a happy man. More HWKs!

The HWK is a mess, scale wise.

The cockpit in that drawing does not seem the right size to me, compared to some of the cutscenes.

I personally would put it at larger than an X-Wing by quite a large margin. I would happily put it at 25 meters, double an X-Wing, 10 meters shorter than the Falcon.

I think it's the avoidance of cross-faction expansions, and cards that shouldn't be faction only.

Asajj Ventress in a Star Trek ship.

You mean the Banshee, her canonical ship which never made it into the CW due to it being folded up before they finished the episode, but which did make it into the novels?

:D

No GUNBOAT for Imperials.

Ryad was rich. Apparently this means you're really good at doing flips? ;)

I dunno, though. Most stuff is passable.

The B-wing comes to mind for me. The **** thing was built to be a capital ship killer, has a **** turbo laser mounted on the bottom and only has 3 attack?! I always felt it should have more health too.

But what ship does get four attack? The phantom. A ship with only three standard lasers.

To be fair, if they did it like it's supposed to be the Defender would be more OP than it is now.

The B-Wing does have the cannon slot.

I'm not gonna call this a complete lore fail, but it's regrettable that the A-wing did not get the option to fire out of a rear auxiliary arc.

Really?

No one is going to mention the cannons sticking out of the back of the Lambda? Seriously, go look at your model. Those things next to the engine? Guns.

It has an auxillary firing arc, guns front and back, and what gets the aux arc?

The Firespray.

There's a lot of stuff they've screwed up, though.

Pursuit Lasers upgrade came with the Lamda. TBH the ones on the rear are not the same as the ships main lasers. The Slaves main battery could traverse to the rear. The A-Wing has a much better argument for a rear arc.

Sure, but as well in the 60 point range ;-)

3. Rey at PS 8.

2. Corran Horn outside his X-wing.

and the winner is ...

1. The HWK 290 ... from one of the most maneuverable ships in the galaxy to one of the least.

HEAR HEAR

ESPECIALLY THAT LAST ONE

Jumpmaster having 2 Torpedo slots. In the lore the Punishing One had a single micro torpedo launcher because Dengar modified it. The title should add 1 Torpedo, the base ship shouldn't have any.

Personal bugbear: Extra munitions shouldn't take away a munitions slot! Make it a modification. I'm sure there are half a dozen good reasons not to but I like the idea!

It does make sense though - you're using the magazine for one of the launchers to store more ammo for your other launchers, sacrificing variety for quantity.

The HWK !!!

But also :
- no rear arc on lambda
- "attack shuttle" with as much firepower as an x-wing
- generic "falcon" in HotR (stat-wise) has no sense
- TIE phantom getting 4 red dice, and the B-wing only 3

And of course the lack of a Gunboat :D

I think that makes perfect sense, she spent a lot to modify the engines for increased maneuverability something like that anyway
