Need help filling out the rest of top 8 as I didn't get around to look in detail at the lists or get names. Let me know and I can edit them in! This one will not be on Listjuggler. The people running it weren't too software savvy.
I was 19th at 4-2. Was 4-0 going into round 5 and knew I needed one win for top 8. With a Deci and a Defender I knew I was going to bleed mov so my goal was to get to four wins and maybe have a few games where I lost only half on the deci. But he got burned every game but one. They were all close games. I felt like I made the right moves as well and just lost on dice, which in the end, doesn't upset me at all. Great job on the win. That chopper Miranda list was tough.
Who won Plano? I left as top 8 was finishing up. Boba/Ketsu was the only remaining undefeated.
Parratanni beat out Boba/Ketsu for the win.
So there were two 6-0 lists after Swiss? I missed that.
I'm excited to see what the details were on the Ketsu/Boba list. I'm a huge fan of Ketsu, but I've been teaming her with Bossk and I'm curious to see her teamed with Boba.

Top 4 was Boba/Ketsu vs Ketsu/Bossk and Parratanni vs Palp shuttle, Quickdraw, and Ryad (?) I was only watching the first game.
Ketsu w/ PtL, title, K4, glitter, SLAM, engine
Bossk w/ crack, mangler, dengar, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, ID
I don't knew the exact loadout of the other but Boba had fearlessness and cluster missiles and Ketsu had VI. That top 4 game was the best one I watched all day, back and forth and decided by 1 or 2 pivotal moves.

That's me!
My list was:
Ketsu w/ VI, Engine, Dengar, Title, Glitterstim, Intertial Dampners
Boba Fett w/ Fearlessness, Latts Razzi, Glitterstim, Cluster Missles, Guidance Chips
That top four match was insane. I get very lucky to come from behind there.
The final match vs Parattani? Never even close, I got blown off the board. It was cool that the finals was between the two of us who were undefeated after swiss.

Not completely sure of the other 3 list in the Top 8, but I believe there was a RAC + Ryad, a Miranda + 2 TLT
Wardens
, and I think the last list in the top 8 had 2 Imperial Trainees (Ryad, OL + 2 Trainee)
Edit: Other Top 8 finishers:
Phillip Gales - RAC + Ryad
Joe Silva - Miranda + Gold w/TLT [x2]
Billy Chandler - Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay) + Ryad (PTL, x7) + Imperial Trainee (Ailerons, LWF) [x2]

It was Billy's list with the trainees. Ryad, OL, +2 trainees

There's lots and lots of X7 defenders in our meta atm, as well as scum big ships and Fangs fighters. This heavily influenced my list choice, of a slightly different Mynock special. Whisper and Omega leader have the firepower and jank to actually put damage through on X7 defenders. I forwent the jankiness of Yorr or sensor jammer to instead put reinforced deflectors on my omnicron, which was a meta-call given the prevalence of 3+ attack dice ships, mindlink, and glitterstim. I was pretty happy with the list and my piloting of it (the last 5 minutes of the final excluded ).

Nathaniel gave me initiative in the final. Surprisingly enough, it's what helped me win the game.
I'm interested in your thoughts on Whisper/Omega being able to put damage through on defenders. My experience has not really reinforced that view.
In an odd way I'm kind of happy x7 is winning some regionals. Really bothered me when players felt like they could say x7 was "perfectly fine" because it wasn't dominating in tournaments. Even if it isn't crushing the competition, there are some data points now that are showing it is easily one of the strongest options in the game currently.

I didn't catch your game, had a long ride home, but having initiative against miranda can actually really help. You get to put pressure on her and occasionally kill her before she regens, or strip her shields before she can boost a key attack. Grats on the win!

Defenders are definately very tough, especially when there's 2-3 in a list. I never struggled when my opponent only had a single X7.
Your important ship in a multiple X7 matchup is actually Omega Leader rather than Whisper. Omega Leader has no problem putting damage through on defenders, as once he has the TL it's 1-2 damage a turn as long as they're in arc. It's not particularly fast, but once their shields are down they're very vulnerable to crits (either rolled or Palp'd), and with 2 PS8+ ships you can spend Palp aggressively to PS kill them.
Whisper just has the crazy 4-dice attack to push damage through their evades, and her weird movement pattern can really throw off the opponent. The only problem is Whisper heavily relies on Agent Kallus, and if you're trading shots with the non-Kallus'd X7 it can be difficult to hit and get your focus for defence. You're fine if you're not trading shots though, as you can just take the focus rather than the evade. Also decloaking to block the 3-5 forward and doing a 3/4 K-turn is a personal favourite of mine against defenders of all types.

Agreed, and I've found that the solution to the issue is to take Gunner instead of Kallus.
Then you Evade, Get your Focus, Cloak and bring the thunder.
Evade, miss, Focus/TL, bring the thunder, Cloak in that order though, right? You don't get to cloak pre-thunder.
Well, I for one will be using "bring the thunder" in all games.
Seems like Manaroo, Miranda, Dengar & Bossk are the only ships to really have much variation in loadout.

Eeeeeenteresting. This sort of data is just what I've been looking for to inform my metabating.
I'm also interested that this does seem to provide some evidence for my assertion that since /x7 came out, Soontir is basically dead.

His weakness of not really having a lot of damage finally pushed him out, since Defenders do the tokenstacking thing on a much more stable basis.
I love how Gand Findsmen snuck their way into so many lists there because of that one or two high finishes, they deserve it Outside of that no suprises, sadly. x7 at the very top, Palp and Zuckuss reigning unique upgrades, Jumpmasters and other Paratanni components very high, K-Wing bombers finally in the spotlight. I don't know if wave 10 will change much here, at least not early.
Excellent analysis. Deserves blog article with some additional thoughts attached
