I'm so happy the System Open Series is coming to Seattle!!

I agree there's probably more than are needed in the US, but I LOVE that htere's one in seattle.

Considering how many were in the US last year, I don't see how anyone can complain that there's more here this year. Especially if they alternate back and forth every other year.

I do think they really need to have one in the AU/NZ area though.

Ideally there should be probably 2-3 in the US, 2-3 in europe, 1 in australia, 1 in south america.

And 1 in Vancouver, BC ;). Would be closer for you than Seattle...and you won't have to drop $150 just for entry.

Closer perhaps, but actually more expensive to fly to from anchorage. I'd love to not have to pay for a $110 con pass just to participate though...

But yah, I wouldn't complain about one in canada too for our northern (or, in my case, eastern?) brethren.

There is one in NY. Makes me happy. I might be able to go to one (finally).

Come on FFG, Australia and Brazil with nothing and then you put 5 in USA???

Why do people just not get that there is no correlation between the number of events in the US or Europe and where else they have them?

It's not like they were considering having a System Open event in Australia and decided instead to have it the US. I don't know for sure why they don't have events in some places although I assume cost is part of it.

Part of it is largely that FFG doesn't directly run the events outside the US, whoever the local distributor is does. There always seem to be complaints about how the Canadian distributor runs events like Regionals, for example. So who knows what the deal is with whoever is handling Australian distribution but that's likely part of it.

Europe, also known as The Outer Rims!

More like the Terminus Systems really.

I wanted one to be in Ontario Canada:(

I'm signed up for Syracuse and I figured I may as well go for the Admiral pass since I'm probably not making day and the mat + hangar bay on the second day sounds fun!

A group of us is making the trek down from Ottawa.

The Seattle event requires purchase of an Emerald City Comicon badge...$110 USD (that's like a bazillion in CAD)...pretty ridiculous.

Not only is it a bazillion CAD, the 4 day passes are sold out already :( .

It says in the registration that they worked out getting passes for people that register for the SOS.

And thats not including any hanger bays or anything. $210 if you wanna go for the admiral's pass.

You americans really like to getting ripped off, right? ^_^

But at least it should keep demand low enough to see some good x-wing.

edit: The fact that it is sold out already helps to keep it small too. ^_^

Individual day badges can be purchased after registration. $40.00 per day. Not sure about Saturday as it is already sold out.

I already have my ECCC passes but now my wife is really angry that I am ducking out to play X-Wing.

I understand that they want the exposure for the game given at a con, but 2-3 days worth of entry fees is not worth it for a con that I might not otherwise want to attend.

Why not do it at Pax West?

lol, Seattle really isn't the forest city. I mean Washington state is the forest state but Seattle is more like I don't know cloud city with the space needle.

This makes me not so happy.
