How to take a yv-666 apart? Any pictures?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I'm trying to get the back of the YV apart. I hear it somehow slides out backwards near the wing area?

Can anyone clarify how and where the seems are for this thing? I'm trying to do a magnet mod or something to store it better.

The bit with the two upward-facing engine nozzles, on which the wings are attached, should pop out if you slide a thin bladed tool under it and break the glue bond. I found that was enough to facilitate easy storage. Though, if you're happy to magnetise just removing the wings themselves is plenty - see my sig for my own magnet modded YV, it uses 8x1mm disc magnets.

Roger THAT.

thank-you captain.

If you want to light it, the bottom panel comes off with little effort.

Man...I'm prying around the top stacks/wing area.and I just am blind to how the seam runs. I must have painted over it because...I just don't see any stinking gap to get a blade in.

I'll try to post a pic soon.

Hey

just make sure you do not break the pin a the back as this really helps hold it all together

the rear wing piece comes off easily if you just tease it a bit, there is no need to even magnetize it as it already has a slot built in. I just keep it in two pieces in the case and put it back on when I'm playing.

yeah you are quite right mate

once you tease them apart carefully the slot pin work a treat for joining and the sides fit snugly

I added magnets because, well i magnetise everything 8)

Or someone else will :D

(I still like the way I did it so you can swivel and easily remove the wings in play when they inevitably get in the way.)

Success! Thank-you fellas!
