So what you basically want is the new tie fighter with ahsoka tano in it? ;-) since it won't attack.. Jokes aside Hm, i usually apply stuff that can block to my lists, since I think it is some of the most fun a boy can have in xwing
If it existed, would you fly a cheap ship with 0 attack as a blocker?
You mean an actual shuttle then? Could be interesting with other benefits i.e. crew and tech or something so it can hand out focus and such as well. A command ship of sorts maybe? Maybe allow a turret or missile upgrade so it has some offense?

I didn't really have anything specific in mind (like if it would be large or small base, and what kind of upgrades it would have). The premise for all this was the fact that like I said -and this is mainly from my experience, I could be wrong- that almost no lists seem to field a ship strictly with blocking in mind. There's pilots like Crynyd but again, he is sort of an ace, and he will diss out damage.
I remember my first X-wing days when I first bought Soontir. My friend immediately started fielding low PS ships trying to make my life difficult. And he did, it was incredibly fun and challenging and it made my godlike Soontir actually feel vulnerable. But i guess on a competitive level its just not point efficient dedicating ships to blocking.
Everybody seems to try and outgun and out-ace each other with a max of 3 ships. I think we'd all love to make those lists sweat with a little bit of old school blocking!
I think I'd rather see something that was a multiple model unit that had common activation windows and got less effective as each model was destroyed. Instead of a single dirt cheap blocker for 10ish points, I'd rather have a handful of them for 20ish.
Maybe give each model an activation phase activation but a single attack activation that can be made from any of the models. The attack gets one point of attack value for each ship from the unit that is at range one or two of the model that the attack is being measured from. Upgrade cards are bought and assigned to the unit as a whole. The unit cannot take modifications.
Three models in a unit that worked like that which each had maybe 3 agility and 2 hull each should probably be worth around 20 points. The coverage from having more models would make them great blockers and since you are attacking from a single model in the group you wouldn't have to forgo an attack because you blocked.

Maybe 2 agility might be better. I think the idea is that individual members of the unit should be easy to one shot while keeping the whole unit from being taken off the board with a single bomb or assault missile.
Yt-2400, title, tractor beam.
Go ahead. Fly it.
I could see some parallels to C-3PO in Imperial Assault. Very cheap, no attack, and strictly a support unit. And 3PO in IA is extremely popular and effective...

This is what I would really like to see--a dedicated support ship with no/poor firepower (0 or 1). The TIE Scout comes to mind as an Imperial option, or a X-Wing Recon variant with no torps but more mod slots.
I think the HWK fails because it is seen as a weak starfighter rather than a support ship. . .a ship designed with the latter in mind would have better options (like a small ship with the Coordinate action).
Edited by Darth Meanie0 attack still throws one red die at range one.
Not if it's missing a firing arc, ala the GR75.
I suppose sabrines tie fighter kinda acts like this before the cover is blown.
