Bespin Gambit - Couple Questions

By erik450, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Couple questions with the Bespin Gambit Imperial Class cards.

1. With True Shadow, it says "When you are deployed, you become Hidden. You cannot discard the Hidden condition." Can this card be used in combination with Versatility, which says "During its activation, an Imperial figure may discard 1 BENEFICIAL condition to gain 1 BENEFICIAL condition of your choice."?

2. Regarding the "In the Shadows" card. It says "Exhaust this card at the start of an activation and choose an Imperial figure. That figure becomes Hidden." My question is can this be used during a Rebel's activation? It doesn't specifically say start of an Imperial's activation - it says "at the start of an activation". This seems to me it can be used at the start of anyone's activation.

3. I'm also assuming that "In the Shadows" doesn't apply to a deployment card if you are choosing lets say a storm trooper who is part of a squad? This would only apply to the one storm trooper, is that right?

1) No, the clause preventing the discarding of hidden would prevent the cost being payed for versatility (discarding a condition)

1.2) However, if you have depleted True Shadow for it's second ability, it is no longer active and you could then discard Hidden (if still Hidden) using Versatility.

2) Yes, it can be used at the start of any activation. (Rebel or Imperial)

3) In the Shadows specified a figure, not a deployment card, so it would only affect the figure selected and none of the other figures in that figure's deployment.

Great - thanks for clarifying!

If you deplete True Shadow, and then the figure/group is defeated, can you attach it to another figure you deploy?

When you deplete a card, it will be face down for the rest of the mission. So whether you can attach it (after the original group has been defeated) or not is irrelevant.

A new thought; can the first part of Versatility be used more than once by a single figure? For instance, imagine an E-Web Engineer with the Hidden condition and Versatility in play. It activates, discards Hidden for Focused, attacks once, spending one surge to become Hidden again. Can it discard Hidden again for Focused during its second attack? I'm not reading any timing restrictions on Versatility, like once per figure per round or something...

My gut says no, but who knows, it might be better than I think.

Each ability can be used only once per timing instance. Versatility (top ability) can be used only once per activation.

If an elite imperial officer orders a hidden trooper to shoot, could that trooper use versatility to change hidden to focused?

No, because Versatility has to be used during the figure's activation, and it's the officers activation when the figure is interrupting to attack.
