Rebel support without range restrictions?

Yes, rebels have regen (which seems to be a reason for it not needing anything else), but will they get a support ship/crew that does not have the range restrictions(Leia doesn't count, she is only useful in epic)? I thought they might come with the U-wing, but it doesn't look like it.

I also understand that not all factions need to be the same, and Manaroo is totally different from Palpatine, so what could rebels do differently for support without range? One could argue that M9-G8 is kind of along the lines of a support card without restrictions, but it is very limited. I would like to see a support crew: at the start of the combat phase, choose a friendly ship, that ship may reroll one die when attacking or defending. (this should have been Leia).

How much more play would the rebel Hwk get if they were not restricted? (I still love Kyle, but to get him to be useful on offense he gets pricey and is an easy target)

How is it I've never realized she worked for all bombs, not just those from her ship.... (I've never flown her, but it does meet the criteria). This changes things, not a lot, but a little.

I think that should be Obi-Wan! Maybe something like a condition you assign to one of your ships at the start of combat that lets you re-roll green dice and stops your opponent from modifying you green dice.

Obi-Wan Kenobi crew 4 points.

At the start of the combat phase assign the "May the force be with you." Condition to one of your ships.

"May the force be with you." Condition

When defending you may re-roll any number of defense die. Your opponent may not modify your defense die.

Remove this condition during the end phase when unused focus and evade tokens are removed.

Stops Zuckuss and Crack shot from screwing you and gives you a little better odds of rolling something useful.

Rebels have regen. They also have cards like Hera and Kanaan that invalidate stress mechanics and maneuver dials.

I do like the Obi-Wan, and the ability is thematic. 4 points might be too cheap, it might need to be 5-7 if it's any number of dice and prevents other modifications.

I thought about 5 but settled on 4 because it just allows re-rolls not guaranteed defense. I would be okay with anything from the 4-6 point range though.

Manaroo and the Emperor have both shown that these abilities can be extremely game warping. Range 3 should be the limit from now on for direct support abilities, at least of that caliber. We don't need Rebel U-Wings sitting back for the aces like a Lambda Shuttle or Rebel K-Wings constantly running away like Manaroo.

I thought of something similar, but cheaper, and required the ship Obi-Wan to be destroyed. And it stayed with the ship it was assigned.

M9-G8, aka GR8-M8. Once the TL is acquired, you can mess with the ship as long as the M9-G8 carrier is still alive. With Weapons Engineer, you can troll two ships for the price of one!

You know that doesn't actually stop Crack Shot as written, right? Cancelling dice is not a modification...

M9-G8 does pretty much has no range restrictions besides the initial lock. Take a target lock (or 2 with weapons engineer) and run!
