New Meta (for me at least)

By Rolotamasi, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So with Worlds over, and as we roll right into the next regional/world season I though it was time to take a new look at what to fly. Normally I fly Imperial with a smattering of Scum. With HotR legal now I decided to expand my horizons and give it a go. The following list doesn't contain too much from HotR but the key grew cards are key.

Finn on a ghost with FCS is a nice way to get 5/6 dice on a target. Just got to be able to weather the storm, luckily all that hull aides that.

Rey on Dash helps with action economy. I dropped PTL, and therefore didn't need Kanaan, so the early round(s) banking foci on Rey helps late game to barrel roll/focus or TL/focus.

The List

Dash Rendar — YT-2400 36
Lone Wolf 2
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Rey 2
Glitterstim 2
Smuggling Compartment 0
Outrider 5
Ship Total: 54

Lothal Rebel — VCX-100 35
Fire-Control System 2
Autoblaster Turret 2
Hera Syndulla 1
Finn 5
Ship Total: 45

One thing testing has shown is that Glitterstim isn't super needed, especially with only 2 greens and Rey. I haven't been super thrilled with any other illicits really. Maybe feedback to close the donut hole but I would rather just fly away and not get shot and setup for a future round. Problem is, dropping them doesn't get enough points for EU, but I'm not sure it is the best idea without PTL. Without snuggling compartment and glitterstim there are 3 points to play with, what would you do? My guess is most people will say countermeasures.

Hi Rolo, looks good to me! Burnout slam would be my number one choice on Dash by a long way. He desperately needs a reset button of some kind.

That frees up 1+1pts in total to upgrade your Lothal to Chopper too, for some very handy stress control...

I like where you are going - the natural progression for me is to find another 2pts for APL, but that would mean dropping back down to the Rebel. So it looks like the options are APL rebel or Chopper.

I know, they're both great upgrades right! I think Chopper shades it for me, as he always hands out stress in games, whereas I've had plenty of APL games where the **** things haven't triggered once. Finally, your list can hand out plenty of damage already, but has zero control. Chopper gives you a bit that could come in real handy against Norra, Manaroo, Whisper, etc...

I do love ramming into things. See my Oicunn post ;)

I'll give it a go, and with the burnout slam, for offense or defense game depending.

I like Oicunn too. Can you give all of us madmen rammers a link?

Here is my post

In it I talk about changes to it, but I tested the original build and it was surprisingly survivable, so long as you don't sacrifice that AP in the first round. Dooh.

My issue with Chopper (Pilot) is that he hands out this stress after your opponent bumps you. For most enemies that matter, the issue there is that they bumped, NOT that they got handed a stress:

Soontir Fel benefits from Chopper's ability, as he bumps & gets his focus.

For any other PtL junkie (Inquisitor, Fenn, Carnor, w/e), they were likely going to have to shed stress next round anyways, so, again, the actual detriment from hitting Chopper was the bump, it's likely their dial doesn't have an issue clearing the stress they got.

If you don't have a method for keeping them glued to Chopper, or piling on more stress, you're better off putting more points in your list towards things that can dish out pain after your opponent has been bumped, which you can pull straight from dropping Chop down to Lothal.

The ONE concession is Defenders, who will have a pain shedding stress, even with the MK II engines, but its not like the stress stops them from getting their Evade Token both turns (assuming x7, of course).

Hi

Anyone has tested Chopper + FCS + Finn + Zeb + Ion Projector @ 47 points or 49 if you add ABT?

It seems like Rigged Cargo would be a great illicit for Dash. Drop the extra debris right in between existing obstacles and make a section of the board that everyone other than Dash needs to take the long way around.
