Thought exercise- Make a top tier Imperial list without using these upgrades-

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

(100)

"Whisper" (41) - TIE Phantom

Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Agent Kallus (2), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Darth Vader (33) - TIE Advanced

Predator (3), TIE/x1 (0), Advanced Targeting Computer (5)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter

Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

31 Quickdraw w/ Rage, E-Baffles, Title

26 Omega Leader w/ Juke, Comm Relay

23 Zeta Leader w/ Predator

20 Scimitar w/ Shuttle, Intel Agent, Mara Jade

Basically it's all about target priorities. They have to target Quickdraw first - he simply vomits damage. Then the Scimitar with Intel Agent allows me to block and predict their Aces, giving them further stress. By that time, Zeta Leader has done enough damage for his points that hopefully Omega Leader will be able to close the deal.

RAC

Predator

EU

Seismic

Whisper

VI

FCS

Gunner

ACD

Not exactly top tier...but effective.

It's still nasty if you aren't careful. I've seen this list allot, and it usually top 16s at Regionals.

Not very good at list building, but here's my attempt.

Darth Vader

TIE/x1

Trick Shot

ATC

Inquisitor

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II

TIE/v1

PTL

Sienar Test Pilot x2

Guidance Chips

TIE/v1

Prockets

100pts

Omega Leader + Juke + comm

Inquisitor + PTL + V1

Shuttle + Gunner + FCS + Hux

Academy Pilot

Omega Leader, Juke, Comms Relay

colonel Vessery, TIE/D, Ion Cannon

Doomshuttle

Made up this list and actually curious to try it myself.

Deathfire: 28 pts

-Extra Muns

-Homing Missiles

-LRS

-Conner Nets

Omega Leader: 26 pts

-Juke

-Comm Relay

Whisper: 44 pts

-VI

-FCS

-Adv Cloaking

-Gunner

This is actually the list I was thinking of, you beat me to it!

Two aces and a control. It might struggle against the ultra-beefy (I'd be nervous about quad TLTs or double Ghosts, for example), but it should be able to obliterate plenty of other targets all the same.

Here is an idea. No exactly competitive but it has some potential if flown right.

Major Stridan

Baffle

Fleet Officer

System Officer

Darth Vader

VI

EU

Title

ATC

Omega Leader

Juke

Comm Relay

You have Stridan who can treat friendlies at Range 2-3 as Range 1 for actions and upgrades. So he can pass Focus and TL every turn (or if needed an evade instead of focus). This gives Vader and Omega some good modifiers and lets them use their repositions more often without sacrificing mods. Biggest weakness is the Back 1 title. That would be an annoying matchup.

I have high hopes the Upsilon shuttle will open up things for Imperials. But, I also fear that meta heads will just push it in to a Palp shuttle deluxe role.

i use crackshot alot but i seldom use the others. Popularity of defenders deters me from using them because i like to be the unpredictable "wtf are you doing?!" guy.

i use Backdraft alot. He doesnt really mesh with those cards very well, except crack. He has the opposite flight pattern Defenders do so its almost impossible to evade arcs with superior flying skills with both on the board.

I use Backdraft a lot too and have some success with him, he's fun to fly. I just wish you could add the crit to accuracy corrector.
